GEP 9a Unit 4A Vocabulary - Weather

Match the idiom to the picture: break the ice, raining cats and dogs, on cloud 9, under the weather, save for a rainy day break the ice

Talk to your neighbor What’s your favourite weather? What weather would you like to have on holiday with your family? What weather would be bad on your holiday?

Which country is it? With a partner, look at the weather forecast for 4 different countries. First guess which country you think goes with which weather report. Cambodia The U.K. Australia Finland

Read and Match Read the weather reports from 4 different countries . Match the weather report to the picture of the forecast. Write the name of the country under the weather forecast.

Guess the country: Australia, Cambodia, the UK, or Finland Temperatures in Cambodia are expected to remain warm and humid over the coming week, with highs around 32°C (90°F). There is a chance of some afternoon showers , with the rain pouring down at times. Winds will be light and variable. The U.K. can expect a rather chilly few days ahead, as a cold front moves in from the north. Temperatures will struggle to reach 10°C (50°F), with overnight lows dipping below zero . Pack your umbrella as damp days are predicted with light drizzling expected in the mornings all week. Winter storms are approaching and conditions in Finland will be freezing , with daytime highs barely climbing above -5°C (23°F). Strong winds will make it feel even colder. There is a chance of some light snow showers throughout the week. Conditions are expected to become more mild by next week with sunshine expected and the return of comfortably cool temperatures. Residents in the northern part of Australia are in for a scorching heat wave, with temperatures soaring to a boiling 42°C (108°F). The air will be hot and dry, with just a light breeze providing little relief. Residents are advised to stay cool and hydrated.

Cambodia The UK Finland Australia

Answer the questions. Which country is going to be the hottest? Which country is going to be the coldest? Which country will have the most rain? Which country will have the most wind? Australia Finland Cambodia Finland
