Strengthening public health approaches to support healthy ageing - focus on older adults’ immunization Dr Marta Lomazzi, PhD, PD WFPHA Executive Manager
The factors influencing healthy aging vary significantly from country to country. The adult population is highly complex and diverse – the older adults’ population even more. The equity gap is highly alarming and significantly affects the most vulnerable populations.
Central Government Support & Funding develop and maintain a central immunization system with national funding.
Communication make national investments in mass media and advertising campaigns to promote vaccination for older adults.
Access ensure that vaccination campaigns address the barriers that limit vaccination of the older adult population and its subgroups.
Monitoring ensure surveillance and monitoring data are collected and shared to guide vaccination efforts.
Viruses don't recognize borders Nor age boundaries An intergenerational approach to immunization has the potential to be a game changer.
