Introduction Definition: GLOBAL WARMING is the increase in the average measured temperature of the Earth’s Near-surface air and oceans since the mid-twentieth century and its projected continuation.

Introduction From The Stone Age to the modern era man has come a long way. In his pursuit of comforts of life he ignored the threat of pollution and environmental degradation caused by industrialization. Global warming is not new as this process occurs naturally and keeps the Earth’s temperature about 50 degrees. Fahrenheit warmer than it would be otherwise. Without this natural cover, Earth’s surface would be colder than it is today,, making the planet freezing and devoid off life.

Introduction The greenhouse effect is when the temperature rises because the sun’s heat and light is trapped in the earth’s atmosphere. The ground is heated by visible and (some) infrared light from the Sun. The heated surface emits infrared light. The small amount of greenhouse gases (H 2 O, CO 2 ) traps (absorb and re-emit) the infrared radiation, increasing the temperature of the atmosphere… is called the “greenhouse effect”.

Greenhouse Gases The following pie chart displays the percent of each gas which plays a role in the greenhouse effect .

Greenhouse Gases With too many greenhouse gases in the air, the earth’s atmosphere will trap too much heat and the earth will get too hot.  As a result people, animals, and plants would die because the heat would be too strong.

How we participate in global warming ? We are the main causes of global warming. We are destroying our earth by eliminating forests, using air conditioning, and by using natural gases, oil burning and deforestation.

Other causes Some other examples of using energy and polluting the air are: Turning on a light. Washing or drying clothes. Using a hair dryer. Riding in a car. Heating a meal in the microwave. Using an air conditioner.

Conclusion We may help to stop global warming by following the procedure: Do not throw garbage on the floor. Do not use deodorant sprays. Do not dump waste into rivers. Do not throw dead animals into rivers. Do not dump toxic waste in the water.
