The Blood Glucose Postprandial (PP) Test is performed to measure glucose levels in the blood after a period of 2 hours from the start of last meal to screen for Prediabetes and Diabetes Types 1 and 2. The word ‘Postprandial’ means after eating a meal.

What is Glucose - postprandial (PP) blood test?
●Glucose - Postprandial Test measures the level of glucose in blood after 2
hours from the start of your last meal
●Normally, the glucose levels start to rise after 10 minutes and are at highest
level at two hours after the start of your meal
●Within three hours, the glucose levels return to the same level as they were
before the intake of meal

The postprandial blood glucose levels depend on
○The meals taken
○Time taken by food to move through the stomach
○Lifestyle of the patient
○Sensitivity to insulin

This test is done:
●To detect and diagnose diabetes
●To diagnose diabetes during pregnancy (Gestational diabetes)
●To monitor the treatment efficacy in diabetic patients
●As a part of preventive health checkup
