~The Issue For people to succeed, their mental, physical and spiritual states must be at their best; these make them healthy and well. Major progress has been made in improving and increasing life expectancy and reducing some deadly diseases. Still, more work and effort are needed to eliminate more diseases and address on-going health challenges. Our Goals Ensure healthy lives, and promote the well-being of all people of all ages Subtopics of these goals include: Reducing child and maternal mortalities Disease prevention Improved sanitation and hygiene Mental health Increased access for medical services Efficient funding for health systems Helping with Covid-19

Local Change 1.) Implement health-related policies • Examples: Requiring proof of Covid-19 vaccination for entry, prohibiting use of tobacco and cigerettes 2.) Promote healthy living programs • Examples: Fitness programs, health education, community gardens 3.) ~Things I Do I am fully vaccinated and boosted I practice safe and healthy behaviors and actions (ex: washing hands, social distancing, I still wear a mask in public, etc.) I do my best to cook and eat a balanced diet for myself, family and boyfriend I need to be better about exercising; something I’ve been struggling with due to Covid I have my mental health under control I share my thoughts and opinions about healthy living, good health, and the importance of mental health with others when it is appropriate

Why This Resonates with Me? For four and half years, I worked as pediatric dental assistant I’ve witnessed many children (from ages two to early-twenties) with horrible decayed teeth; they paid the price because their parents haven’t been providing healthy foods and assisting/doing all oral health care (brushing and flossing) on their children Majority of the time, these cavities could’ve been avoided if parents were more hands-on and responsible for their children Personally, the pandemic took a huge toll on my mental health; I spiraled so hard with my depression and anxiety, and finally found a therapist. Now, I encourage everyone to try therapy Getting older, I need to think about getting in my best shape possible for when my partner and I decided to have kids in a few years
