God is Good

Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?”  God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.”  - Exodus 3:13-15

Yahweh (yah-WEH) occurs more than 6,800 times in the Old Testament. It appears in every book except Esther, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Songs. As the sacred, personal name of Israel's God, it was eventually spoken aloud only by priests in the Jerusalem temple.

The name Yahweh comes from the Hebrew word for “I am.” When God met Moses at the burning bush and commanded him to go back to Egypt and lead the people out, Moses asked who he should say has sent him. “God said to Moses, ‘I am who I am.’ And he said, ‘Say this to the people of Israel: “I am has sent me to you.”’ God also said to Moses, ‘Say this to the people of Israel: “The LORD [ YHWH ], the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.” This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations’” ( Exodus 3:14–15 ).

Marcion Dualism of God in OT and NT

The Problem of Evil: Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus

YAHWEH IS A GOOD GOD

Pag- ibig niya'y tunay , laging tapat kailanman ! - Awit 136:1-3

The Faithfulness of God: Unchanging and Everlasting 1. The Promise-Keeping God: God’s faithfulness is rooted in His nature and character. Numbers 23:19 states, “ God is not man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not fulfill it?” Unlike human beings, God is unchangeable, and His promises are sure. Throughout the Bible, we see numerous instances where God fulfilled His promises to His people, demonstrating His unwavering faithfulness.

2. God’s Faithfulness in Our Trials: Life’s trials and challenges often leave us feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. However, even in the midst of difficulties, God’s faithfulness shines brightly. Lamentations 3:22-23 declares, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” These verses remind us that God’s faithfulness is not limited by our circumstances. His love, mercy, and faithfulness are renewed each day, giving us hope and strength to endure.

3. God’s Faithfulness in Salvation: The pinnacle of God’s faithfulness is revealed in His plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. In Romans 5:8, we read, “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” God’s faithfulness is demonstrated through the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross. He remained faithful to His promise of salvation, offering forgiveness, grace, and eternal life to all who trust in Him.

4. Our Response: Understanding the faithfulness of God should draw out a response from us. As recipients of His faithfulness, we are called to trust, obey, and serve Him faithfully. In 1 Corinthians 4:2, Paul wrote, “Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” We are entrusted with God’s blessings and are called to be faithful stewards of His love, grace, and truth.
