Gonorrhea By : Kush joshi

Definition It is an infection in genitals, rectum & throat. It is very common infection among young people aged between 15-25 Years. It is a STD & affect both Male & Female.

Causes & Risk Factor Neisseria gonorrhea Gram-Negative diplococcal, It can spread through sexual contacts, Early onset of Sexual Activity, A new Sex partner, Multiple sex partner, Previous gonorrhea diagnosis, Etc.

Patho Physiology Due to etiological factor, Bacteria transmitted through semen or vaginal fluid, Bacteria directly entered to GU tract ( in male urethra & In female cervix ), It will cause inflammation, Disease Condition.

C/M ( Male ) Generally asymptomatic, White, Yellow thick discharge from Penis, Inflammed testicle & prostate gland, Irritation from discharge from anus, Itching and burning sensation during passing the Urine, Etc.

C/M ( Female ) Strong smelling vaginal discharge, Irritation from discharge of Anus, Abnormal vaginal bleeding, Possibly some low abdominal or pelvic tenderness, Pain/burning sensation during passing urine, Etc.

D/E Swab test from infected area, Urine examination, Gram staining, Etc.

Medical Management Antibiotics, Specially Ceftriaxone with mixing of Azithromycin or Doxycycline, Or for Pt with Allergic reaction with Cephalosporin Antibiotics , Inj. Gentamycin with Azithromycin, Etc.

Nursing Management As Usual.
