Good Friday presentation By Sloka, Amelia, Isabel, Sasmita, Olivia, Labiqa, Evie and Lydia J.
Why do we celebrate good Friday? We think people celebrate Good Friday, because on this day Jesus showed his will to sacrifice his life for us. Because of the people’s sins Jesus died and showed his love for everyone.
Bible extracts 1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have healed.” Romans 5:6-7 “6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” “7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.”
More Bible Extracts 1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” 1 John 3:16 “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”
Why is Jesus’ death called good Friday? We all might wonder why Good Friday is called Good Friday when Jesus Christ died on this day, but good used to mean holy, therefore has been used in the name. Also, it is called Good Friday, as on this day Jesus died, but when he came back to life the next day he caused everyone to believe in God. Therefore it is good.
A short story about good friday One evening, Jesus and his twelve disciples sat to eat a meal. The disciples were eating quietly because they had a lot on their minds. They were very worried because some people wanted to kill Jesus since he was getting so popular. Jesus could see the disciples were worried. He said to them quietly, “I tell you the truth, one of you here will betray me.” The disciples looked at each other in shock, and some of them asked Jesus, “It isn’t me, is it Lord?” Jesus replied, “The one who dips his bread into his bowl with me will betray me. I will die, just as it is written, but the man who betrays me will feel sorry forever.” Then Judas, with his head down spoke quietly to Jesus, “It isn’t me, is it?” Jesus answered, “ Yes you are the one.” Judas’ head went down even lower; he had hoped that the other disciples had not heard what Jesus said. Luckily, they were paying more attention to Jesus breaking apart some bread.
Story Continuation He thanked God for the bread and shared it with the disciples and said: “Take this and eat it. This is my body which is given for you.” Then he took a full cup, thanked God for it and said, “This is my blood, which will be poured out for many people so their sins may be forgiven.” They all took a sip from the cup. After some time, Jesus got up from the table and went to a different part of the room. He put a large towel around himself to look like a servant. After that, he poured water into a large bowl and began to wash the disciples’ feet. When it was Peter’s turn to get his feet cleaned he said to Jesus, “Lord are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus replied, “You don’t understand what I’m doing, but you will later .” “No ,” said Peter, “you will never wash my feet.” He said this because he didn’t feel right having Jesus wash his feet; and that, this would make his whole body clean. When Jesus had finished washing all of the disciples’ feet, he put his everyday clothes back on and returned to the table. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” Jesus asked them. You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and that is who I am. And now that I have washed your feet, you can also wash one another’s feet.” The End
Who celebrates good Friday and how? Christians all over th e world celebrate Good Friday. Some celebrate it by having parades to celebrate and remember the event. In Spain and some other places, people who are really sorry for their wrong actions (known as ‘Penitents’) walk through streets wearing long robes with hoods and carrying a large cross of wood. In some countries like the U.K., people carry a large wooden cross around streets near the church and sometimes stop and have a reading from the bible or sing a song before the service.
