About GSDM Gujarat Skill Development Mission (GSDM) established in 2009, under chairmanship Hon'ble Chief Minister to empower the youth in the state to take part in the economic and overall growth of the state and the country at large. GSDM act as an apex body for monitoring, co-ordination and convergence related to Skill Development & Entrepreneurship activities leading to employment in the state of Gujarat. The vision of the mission is: "To be a specialized agency to deliver quality skill training and professional knowledge to the youth, to enhance their employability and bridge the skill deficit with a view to meet burgeoning market demand for skilled manpower"

The imposition of the lockdown as a measure to contain the exponential progression of the COVID-19. pandemic has hit the unskilled and semi-skilled migrant labourers the most. More than 14.5 lakhs workers migrated to their natives. As a result, industries in Gujarat are facing acute shortage of manpower.
Hence, it was imperative to design an innovative industry-centric programme to strengthen, augment and induce industry participation towards developing a programme for enabling demand driven quality skilling leading to sustainable employability opportunities for the youth of the state. A win-win situation for youth as well as Industry.
Introduction PMKVY 2.0 was on October 2016 (4 years scheme upto 2020) by scaling up both in terms of Sector and Geography and by greater alignment with other missions of Government of India like Make in India, Digital India, Swachh Bharat, etc. The scheme is flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) implemented by National Skill Development Corporation. It that aims to encourage the youth population of the country to take up training which is Industry- Relevant and builds them in Skill Development.
Objectives Enable and mobilize a large number of youths to take up industry designed quality skill training, become employable and earn their livelihood. Increase productivity of the existing work force and align skill training with the actual needs of the country. Encourage standardisation of the Certification process and put in place the foundation for creating a registry of skills. Benefit 10 million youth over the period of four years (2016- 2020).
Key Components The scheme is being implemented through two components: Centrally Sponsored Centrally Managed (CSCM): This component is implemented by National Skill Development Corporation. Centrally Sponsored State Managed (CSSM): This component is implemented by State Governments through State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs). Short Term Training Recognition Of Prior Learning Special Projects
Target benefits It offers skill training aligned with industry needs, improving employability. Participants receive certification upon course completion, leading to better job prospects and entrepreneurial opportunities. It is applicable to any candidate of Indian nationality who is unemployed, school or college dropout, or as identified by the Sector Skill Council (SSC) for their respective job roles. It rewards candidates undergoing skill training by the authorised institutions at an average monetary reward of Rs.8,000 per candidate
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 3.0- Short Term Training)
INTRODUCTION Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) was launched in 2015 to encourage and promote skill development in the country by providing free short-term skill training. The overall idea is to boost both industry and employability of youth. The scheme is proposed to be implemented in two phases: first phase for the year 2020-21 and the second phase for 2021-26.
OBJECTIVE Create an ecosystem for the youth to make informed choices on the available skilling avenues. Provide avenues to youth for skill training and certification. Promote long-term sustainable Skill Centres through greater participation of private sector. Benefit 8 lakh youth over scheme period

Project SANKALP Skill development
About Project Sankalp The Government of Gujarat aims to create a mutually beneficial ecosystem by encouraging industries in both the manufacturing and service sectors to participate in developing the state skill ecosystem. Thus, on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, 15 July 2020 the Hon'ble Chief Minister launched "Project Sankalp " an innovative "by the industry, for industry, in the industry" programme in Gujarat.
Objective Project Sankalp aims to encourage industry/industry associations to associate with GSDM as partners and provide industry relevant training, apprenticeship, and employment opportunity to the youth of the state. Interlink key elements such as industry linked skilling, apprenticeship/OJT, and employability to develop the entire value-chain. Provide sector specific, quality training with exposure to practical aspects of work.
Develop a framework to induce the Industry to participate by offsetting key cost incurred in hiring and training manpower. Provide youth with better employment opportunities and support industries in fulfilling their manpower demand.

Target group Age Criteria: Minimum° Youth (fresher trainees) 18 years (as per labour law) and maximum 35 years. A relaxation of ten years may be given to Women, PWD, BPL, SC & ST candidates. Existing employees Age should be minimum 18 years (as per labour law) and maximum 55 years. Domicile: New candidate must have a domicile of Gujarat but existing employee (Industry employee enrolled as candidate for training) could be from Pan-India.. Should focus on inclusion of Groups such Women, PWD, BPL etc.
SAKSHM Stimulating Advanced Knowledge for Sustainable Health Management.
Introduction- The SAKSHAM Scheme is an important initiative that is an example of the government’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment. It offers scholarships to differently-abled students who are pursuing technical degree or diploma courses from recognized educational institutions.
Objective The primary objective is to establish a comprehensive skill and entrepreneurship development program catering to a diverse group of rural/ peri -urban beneficiaries at the taluka /village level across the state of Gujarat.
Key components Key components include Nutrition Support through Supplementary Nutrition Programme , Early Childhood Care and Education, Anganwadi Infrastructure, and Poshan Abhiyaan .
Benefits Benefits Provided Under the Saksham Yojana 50,000 per annum is provided for every year of study, for a maximum of 4 years for first-year admitted students and for a maximum of 3 years for students admitted through lateral entry (LE) as lump sum amount.
