PARTS OF THE BODY The body has three main parts. 1. Head 2. Trunk 3. Limbs
Head The head is the topmost part of our body. Eyes Nose Ears Mouth Trunk The trunk is the center of our body. Chest : The front part of the trunk is the chest. Shoulders : Our arms are joined to the trunk at the shoulders. Hips: Our legs are joined to the trunk at the hips. Limbs The arms and legs together are called limbs.
Arms Elbows : Elbows bend and help us to lift things.
Wrists : Wrists move in any direction.
Hands : We can pick anything with the hands. Fingers : Fingers bend inward and helps to hold things.
Legs Knees : We can bend our legs at the knees. Ankle : Our feet are attached to our legs at the ankle. Foot : It help us to stand. It has five toes.
Internal and external parts Internal parts Some parts of the body are on the inside and it cannot be seen. * Brain * Heart * Lungs * Kidney * Liver
External parts Some parts of the body are on the outside and can be seen. * Eyes * Nose * Ears * Mouth * Neck * Hands * Legs
Sense Organs * Eyes * Ears * Nose * Tongue * Skin
Eyes The eyes help us to see the world around us. Ears The ears help us to hear sounds.
Nose * The nose helps us to smell flowers, fruits and foods. * It also helps us to breathe. Tongue * The tongue helps us to taste what we eat or drink. * It helps us to swallow. Skin * We feel with our skin. * It helps us to feel pain.
Care of our bodies * We should eat different kinds of food to be healthy and strong. * Our body needs clean air and clean water. * We must keep our bodies clean. * Exercise makes the body fit. * Our bodies need rest.
Caring of sense organs We must not: * watch television or play video games for too long. * put anything sharp into our eyes, ears, nose or mouth. * listen to loud music. * eat or drink very hot, cold or spicy foods.
