Grade 6 - Vertebrates and invertebrates

Slide Content

Determine the
characteristics
of vertebrates
and
invertebrates.

Why do we need to take
food supplements/
vitamins?
Can you cite healthful
habits in taking care of
our body?

Where I Belong

Vertebrates Invertebrates

Vertebrates are animals with back bone.

Five Classes of
Vertebrates
Mammals
 fishes
 reptiles
 amphibians
birds.

Mammals are the most
complex vertebrates animals.
They are warm blooded
animals with highly
developed brains, a four-
chambered heart, hair,
mammary glands, with
specialized teeth.

Fishes are vertebrate groups
with streamlined bodies
covered with scales. They
have fins and tail that enable
them to swim.

Reptiles have dry waterproof
scales as body covering.
They spend most of their
lives on land and lay eggs
with leathery shells.

Amphibians are group of
animals that begin their life in
the water and breathe through
their gills. They develop lungs
and are able to live on land.

Birds are warm blooded
vertebrates that lay eggs and
have feathers.
