What is a Pronoun? A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun . Stella is my sister. Thomas is a doctor. She is my sister . . He is a doctor.

Annie told George that George was Annie’s best friend. She told him that he was her best friend. We use pronouns like “he”, “her”, “us”, “them” , etc. to make the sentences less repetitive and less complicated .

Pronouns: Classification We can classify pronouns into several types; Subjective Personal Pronouns Objective Personal Pronouns Possessive Pronouns Reflexive Pronouns

Subjective Personal Pronoun Indicates us the pronoun as the subject in the sentences. Examples: She is a teacher. We are the champion. I am good today.

Objective Personal Pronoun Indicates us the pronoun as an object in the sentences. Examples: James told him the truth. Please give me back. She bought them lunch. me you him her it us you them

Possessive Pronouns Possessive pronouns show that something belongs to someone in a sentence. ours hers his its mine yours theirs Examples: This mobile phone is mine . This class is ours , we should keep it clean.

Possessive Adjectives Function as determiners in front of a noun to describe something belongs to who. their his her its my your our Examples: He puts his pen into the box. Will you please lend me your pen for a while?
