INTRODUCTION
 A Green Building is one which uses less water,
optimizes energy efficiency, conserves natural
resources, generates less waste and provides
healthier space for occupants as compared to
conventional buildings.

 Green building (also known as green construction or
sustainable building) is the structure that use process
that environmentally responsible and resource
efficiency throughout a building from siting to design
construction, operation, maintenance, renovation and
deconstruction.

7

OBJECTIVES

 Protecting occupant health,

 Improving employee productivity,

 Using energy, water and other resources more
efficiently,

 Reducing overall impact to the environment,

 Optimal environmental and economic performance,

 Satisfying and quality indoor spaces.

8

FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES
 Siting & Structure design efficiency.

 Energy efficiency.

 Water efficiency.

 Material efficiency.

 Waste& Toxic reduction.

9

1. Siting & Structure design efficiency. :-

 It is the concept of sustainable building and
has largest impact on cost and performance.

 In designing environmentally optimal
buildings, the objective is to minimize the
total environmental impact associated with all
life - cycle stages of the building project.

10

2.Energy efficiency.:-
 The building is designed to minimize energy
losses. Most of the energy is produced through
non-perishable sources such as Solar Energy or
Wind Energy. Natural Light and Wind are used
to reduce electricity usage.

11

3.Water efficiency. :-
 In simple terms, it means responsible use of
fresh water and reducing the overall usage of
water and minimizing wastewater. It also
points toward using improved practices and
technologies which deliver equal or better life
service with reduced water consumption.
 Water efficiency is a significant chunk of green
buildings whose strategies and technologies
lessen the amount of potable water consumed
in buildings.

12

4.Material efficiency. : -
 Using eco friendly materials.
 Construction waste management.
 Use of regional and rapidly renewable materials.
 Use of wastes and debris of demolition works.
 Compressed Earth Blocks, Fly ash
Blocks, Stabilized Mud blocks, HVFC.
Bamboo, Low VOC paints and other recycled
materials.

 Use of Solar Reflective Glass and Low
VOC paints for better indoor air Quality.

13

5.Waste & Toxic reduction. :-
 Green architecture also seeks to reduce
waste of energy, water and materials used
during construction.

 It is probable to reuse resources

 Waste Reduction can protect the
environment and provide good economic
and business practices.

14

GREEN BUILDING PROJECTS

 Building have large effect on the environment,
human health and economy.

 The successful adoption of GREEN BUILDING
development can maximize both the economic
and environmental performance of the buildings.

Basically Benefits can be Describe in following :-

 Environmental Benefits
 Economical Benefits

15

 Social Benefits

1.Environmental Benefits :-

 Protect Bio-diversity and eco-system
 Improve air and water quality
 Reduce waste streams
 Conserve natural resources

16

2.Economical Benefits : -

 Reduce operating Costs

 Create, expand and shape markets for green products
and services

17

 Improve occuptant productivitys

3.Social Benefits :-
 Enhance occupant comfort and health.

 Heighten aesthetic qualities.

 Minimize Strain on local infrastructure.

18

 Improve overall quality of life.

GOALS OF GREEN BUILDING

19

Goals Of Green Building

CHALLENGES FOR GREEN BUILDING
 Increased Growth of e-waste

 Increased energy costing

20

 Increased amount of non-disposal waste

 Lack of awareness

AFFECT ON NATURAL RESOURCES

 According to surveys conducted in 2006, 107.3
million acres of total land area is developed,

21

which represents an increase of 24 percent land
covering green buildings over the past 3 years.

 In terms of energy, buildings accounted for 39.4
percent of total energy consumption and 67.9
percent of total electricity consumption

CONCLUSION
 This research identified the exciting developments
taking place on the technology front and analyzes
their implications for intelligent and green
buildings, highlighting examples of “best in class”

22

buildings employing green and intelligent
technologies. These buildings are dynamic
environments that respond to their occupants’
changing needs and lifestyles. This research
provided documented evidence to educate and
influence end-users, building owners, architects,
and contractors that a “greener building” can be
achieved using intelligent technology and that this
“greening” will provide a tangible and significant
return on investment
