GreenChem is redesigning energy-intensive processes to enhance efficiency and minimize emissions. In
addition, GreenChem aims to be water positive and achieve zero waste to landfill by 2030 in India.
R&D is focused on actively promoting green chemistry in products, development of sustainable bio-
chemicals such as bio-based surfactants, all aligned with the principles of circular economy.

Technology Landscape
GreenChem adopted SAP ECC in 2004. They have been evaluating the path to move to cloud – however,
considering the many customizations that have happened in their landscape over the years, the executive
leadership team believes that this move will be risky and will require significant investments in terms of time
and effort.
They have a disparate approach to demand forecasting and supply chain execution. Planning processes are
executed through excel-sheets. Productions schedules are managed manually and batch-records are
captured on paper with post-shift system uploads.
Manufacturing automation for creating smart factories with electric quality records is a key area of investment
for GreenChem.
Enabling their distribution networks through a collaborative ecosystem approach is a key technology
initiative. While they have piloted multiple solutions for commerce, omni-channel order fulfillment, there are
gaps in this process – order profitability considering logistics and material handling costs remains a chellenge
to track.
GreenChem believes that AI is revolutionizing material discovery practices in the chemical industry,
enhancing time-to-market and driving operational efficiency by enabling monitoring & control of chemical
processes. Predictive modeling techniques enable virtual screening of chemical compounds hastening
discovery of new materials, catalysts and formulations. In addition, AI & digital technologies are expected to
significantly improve functions such as quality control, optimize supply chain, safety & compliance.
Being able to offer value-added services to farmers is a strategic priority for the new agri-chemicals vertical,
