01 when was? INTRODUCTION VIOLENT CRIMES

Violent crimes have big impact on society . Violent crimes can divide public opinion whether the violent act is intentional or provoked. According to Jacquin (2024), violence is an act of physical force that causes or is intended to cause harm. VIOLENT CRIMES

VIOLENT CRIMES As stressed by Siegel (2012), violent crime can divide a community, damage reputation, and cause lifelong harm. It tells people that no matter where they go, they may encounter violent acts, even at a faculty meeting, or in their kitchen. Nor is violence committed solely by gangs, drug dealers, armed robbers, etc. An individual can also be attacked by their own sister, brother or work colleagues.

where to go? VIOLENT CRIMES Furthermore, Siegel stated that criminologists have a variety of views on violence. Some believe that violence is a function of human traits and makeup. Others point to improper socialization and upbringing. Violent behavior may be culturally determined and relate to dysfunctional social values.

02 TYPES OF VIOLENT CRIMES VIOLENT CRIMES

(physically attacking another person with the intent to cause harm) HOMICIDE (the killing of one human being by another, sometimes for legally justifiable reasons) ROBBERY (forcibly taking something from another person) ASSAULT RAPE (forcibly sexual intercourse with another person) TYPES OF VIOLENT CRIMES VIOLENT CRIMES Violence can be categorized in a number of ways. Violent crimes are typically divided into four main categories, based on the nature of the behaviour :

HOMICIDE -the killing of one human being by another. Homicide is a general term and may refer to a noncriminal act as well as the criminal act of murder . Some homicides are considered justifiable, such as the killing of a person to prevent the commission of a serious felony or to aid a representative of the law . Other homicides are said to be excusable, as when a person kills in self-defense . VIOLENT CRIMES

ASSAULT -as an intentional act that puts another person in reasonable apprehension of imminent harmful or offensive contact. No physical injury is required, but the actor must have intended to cause a harmful or offensive contact with the victim and the victim must have thereby been put in immediate apprehension of such a contact. VIOLENT CRIMES

ROBBERY -The unlawful acquisition or taking of property by forceful means constitutes a robbery. In retail and commercial establishments, security officers and personnel are frequently endangered by the activities of felons. Robbery is more than a property crime since it is coupled with a violent thrust. VIOLENT CRIMES

RAPE -unlawful sexual activity, most often involving sexual intercourse , against the will of the victim through force or the threat of force or with an individual who is incapable of giving legal consent because of minor status, mental illness , mental deficiency , intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception. VIOLENT CRIMES

Other forms of violence overlap with these categories, such as child sexual abuse (engaging in sexual acts with a child) and domestic violence (violent behaviour between relatives, usually spouses). VIOLENT CRIMES

03 CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF VIOLENCE who was ? . VIOLENT CRIMES

source? CAUSES OF VIOLENCE VIOLENT CRIMES According to Siegel (2015), criminologists have a variety of views on violence. Some believe that violence is a function les, they socialization and upbringing. Violent behavior may be culturally of human traits and make-ups. Other points to improper determined and relate to destructive social values

Researchers seem to agree on is that violence is multi- causal, meaning that no single factor is responsible for violent behavior. Instead, violence results from a combination of factors, including those originating in the violent person's social or cultural environment and those representing immediate situational forces. CAUSES OF VIOLENCE VIOLENT CRIMES

Researchers regarding violence have examined multiple factors within a person that may contribute to violence, including genetic predisposition, neurochemical abnormalities(e.g., high testosterone levels), personality characteristics(e.g.. lack of empathy for others), information-processing deficits (e.g., the tendency to view others' actions as hostile), and the experience of abuse or neglect as a child. look closer CAUSES OF VIOLENCE VIOLENT CRIMES

Regardless of its cause, violence has a negative impact on those who experience or witness it. Violence can cause physical injury as well as psychological harm. Several psychological disorders, including: •post-traumatic stress disorder •dissociative identity disorder •and borderline personality disorder are associated with experiencing or witnessing violence. Common psychological symptoms in victims of violence such as: • depression •anxiety • mood swing who was? EFFECTSS OF VIOLENCE VIOLENT CRIMES

Siegel (2012), stressed that children seem to be particularly susceptible to the negative effects of violence. Those who experience or witness violence may develop a variety of problems, including anxiety, depression, insecurity, anger, poor anger management, poor social skills, pathological lying, manipulative behavior, impulsiveness, and lack of empathy. who was? look closer 04 SUMMARY VIOLENT CRIMES

SUMMARY It measures how deep violent crime goes in society, finally creating a vision in the minds of the public with all the above definitions encompassed as acts, which cause or are intended to cause physical harm. The four categories of homicides, assaults, robberies, and rape make up the main violent crimes. Child sexual abuse and domestic violence are other forms of violence which fall within these categories. when happened? VIOLENT CRIMES

SUMMARY Accordingly, violence has been regarded as multicausal -thereby a result of combined genetic predispositions and social environment-influenced by personal experiences of abuse or neglect. Violence, however is not only a direct injury to the victim but it also impacts the witness at the same time; it causes harm in the nature of injury being either physical or psychological. Amongst the most prevalent psycho-social conditions following violent injury are linked with post-traumatic stress disorder and depression which impact children the most since the impacts of violence may present later in childhood or even adulthood. Abstances become more likely for abuse, especially in girls. when happened? VIOLENT CRIMES
