Animals Need Us By Ace L yn U . M iranda

CONT… Some animals are on the brink of extinction. The world is losing a great amount of wildlife at a very alarming rate. Sadly, our country is not an exception. The Philippines is one of the richest and most diverse biological havens in world. However, many animals in our country are already slowly and critically disappearing from the face of the earth because of relentless human activities.

The Philippines eagle or the monkey-eating is known as the national bird of the Philippines. Through this mighty bird reigns as the king of the forest, its population suddenly decreased due to immense habitat loss brought about by illegal logging and hunting. If people do not act, this national pride could also end up with the same fate as the once-living D odo birds.

Dodo birds are an extinct species of flightless birds that were hunted down for their meat. Since there was a great demand for its meat and lack of conservation, its entire species was wiped out. Today, we can only get to see a glimpse of its existences in books.

Another example of an endangered animal found here in the Philippines is the crocodile. Crocodiles are not hunted for their meat, but their habitats were exploited by humans and turned into agricultural spaces. When animals lose their natural habitat, they are driven to move to another place where they could be more prone to predators and starvation.

Habitat destruction reduces the sources of food and shelter for these animals. People cut down trees for wood and transform fields for agricultural lands and real estate for new towns or villages. Human activities also cause population to their natural homes, which leads to different diseases and even worse, death.

We, humans, should also be aware of our action. We should be responsible and protect wildlife. Our hands are also capable of caring. Imagine a world without animals. It is hard to believe that might happen, isn’t it? If we do not start caring for them now,who else will?

ANIMALS NEED US! THEIR HOME IS OUR RESPONSIBILITIES! WORKING TOGETHER FOR WILDLIFE! PROTECT WILDLIFE, PROTECT OUR FUTURE.

WHY ANIMALS NEED US?

Animals need us because it is our responsibilities. We have a moral obligation to protect them and their habitats. Animals need our help, we have the power to make a difference in their lives, whether it’s by reducing our impact on the environment, supporting conservation efforts , or simply being more mindful or our actions.

Protecting animals isn’t just about saving species; it’s about saving ourselves. Let’s be the generation that makes a difference. THANK YOU!
