Growth and development milestones in adolescents (13-18 years) involve rapid physical changes, cognitive maturity, emotional development, and social identity formation. This stage focuses on puberty, critical thinking, independence, and the establishment of personal values and future goals.

Aspect 12-14 years 14-16 years 16 - 18 years Physical Development Weight: Males- 38-60 kg, females- 40-60 kg Height: Males- 154-172 cms , females: 153-167 cms . Weight: Males- 50-60 kg, females- 42-64 kgs Height: Males- 164-180 cms , females- 155-169 cms . Weight: Males- 56-80 kgs, females- 48-72 kgs Height: Males- 163-182 cms , females- 156-170 cms .

Aspect 12-14 years 14-16 years 16 - 18 years Motor Development Momentary clumsiness from rapid growth. Motor skills like adults. Eye-hand coordination like adults. Achieved manual dexterity. Equivalent to adults. Proficient manual dexterity.

SEXUAL DEVELOPMENT

Age Girls Boys Puberty Age 10 – 15 years 12 – 16 years 8 – 9 years Initiation of sex hormone release. Initiation of sex hormone release. 9 – 10 years Hips start to develop a curvier shape. Nipples begin to grow. Testes begin to grow in size. Scrotal skin darkens and coarsens.

Age Girls Boys Puberty Age 10 – 15 years 12 – 16 years 10 – 11 years Breast tissue around the nipple area begins to develop, hair appears on the labia, and a growth spurt begins. Prostate activation and penile growth. Commencement of a growth spurt. 11 – 12 years Continuation of both internal and external genitalia growth, along with darker and coarser pubic hair. Development of pubic hair. Possible nocturnal emissions, spontaneous erections, and ejaculations.

Rapid penis growth (usually following testes growth by about a year), deepening of testes' color , and the possibility of temporary breast tissue growth (often resolving within a year). 13 – 14 years Occasional vaginal discharge, especially during ovulation and sexual arousal, and completion of the growth spurt. The appearance of underarm hair, the onset of voice changes, and sperm maturation. Most of the growth spurt is completed.
