I am writing this letter to express my interest of the Department Manager position within
MTWTFSS WEEKDAY. As a graduated Fashion Textile Designer, I have always had a strong
passion and interest for clothes and textiled prints. Based on this I was drawn to work within
the retail industry. I have been privilege to gain experience with a number of top high street
retailers. This has given me the opportunity to understand the retail industry from a different
angle as well as witnessing the importance of this stage within the industry.
Through my educational and work experience, I have been inspired to produce fashionable
garments, which is innovative and affordable at the same time. As an aspiring fashion designer
this type of retail environment is the atmosphere I want to immerse myself in.
I am currently working as a Department Manager at H&M, Epsom. Prior to this, I was team
leader at H&M, Croydon. Worked as a Sales Assistant at H&M, Croydon for a total of 3years and
6 months. As a Department Manager. Within these roles, I have gained the advantage of
obtaining transferrable skills as well the opportnity to excel and grow within the company.
Through my retail journey I have gained personal approach and built great relationships with
customers and colleagues, which I believe is important as it builds a strong team and shows
company loyalty whilst keeping the customers coming back .

Within my role I provide excellent customer service, manage with stock merchandising, follow
through any queries or disputes and maintain a good relationship with customers and
colleagues. Feedback, from store managers was that I demonstrated an excellent understanding
of selling principles and the five-step approach to customer service. I was praised for my ability
to bring a positive energy to the shop floor and for being approachable to customers. My in
house training in merchandising, customer service, and Planning the staff scheduling, organising
the department and delegating tasks to individuals. And also Cashing up and counting, checking
of the daily takings at the end of trade. This shows my employee management and product
management, means that I have a solid knowledge of retail policies and processes.
I am Hardworking , I enjoy working as part of a team, however, I have the ability to also work as
an individual. I Grasp new information quickly. I am a leader. I have no problems with
following instructions. Good time keeping and excellent communicator are also skills I am
confident in and I would transfer to the role of Department Manager in this new store.
I am applying for the position as Department Manager, as this role has the level of challenges
and tasks I desire and require to work towards pursing my career. If I am given the
opportunity, I will showcase my skills and abilities to positively contribute to this company,
whilst ensuring the level of service requirement is exceeded.
I trust that having considered my enclosed CV and cover letter you will be persuaded of my
potential to perform well and contribute well within this job . I will be available for an
interview at your request and very much looking forward to hopefully hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Claudia oware
