2. What is Halba tribe? The Halba tribal community is the chief tribe of the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh . The Baster district is sometimes described as ‘ Kashmir of Chhatisgarh ’ . It is home of some colorful tribe : the Halbas , the Batras , and the Gonds . Among these , the Halba occupies a key position . Halba is an influential tribe in the central India .It is divided into Marathiya Halba , Chhattisgarhi Halba , and Bastaria Halba .

3. Origin of halbas The name ' halba ' comes from hal , which means the plough. The Halba tribes are believed to be the descendants of Lord Krishna's elder brother Balram, whose weapon was the plough. They are known to be soldiers of the Gond kings.

4. What halba’s do ? Halba of today are farmers and farm laborers. Halbas are famous for their rice flakes. This is their traditional occupation. the maximum number of members of the Halba tribal community have taken up occupations like cultivation, poultry Farming, animal husbandry, etc. Halbas are rice cultivators. Although Halba is a primarily agricultural community, Halba are also professional weavers, also known as K oshti .

6. God they worship The patron deity of the Halba tribe is Maa Danteshwari . Danteshwari Temple is a 600-year-oldheritage pilgrim center built by Chalukya kings in the 14th century. The major Hindu festivals, like Diwali , Holi , Dashehra , Goncha ( The Rath Utsav ), Fagun , etc. are some of the main festivals of the Halba . Tribal community. After the decline of the Chalukyas , the situation was such that both the Marathas and the British came one after the other to the place in order to rule

9. The main reason the revolt was lack of money and food in the hands of common people . A long drought had affected the People , especially those who had very little cultivable land in their hands . Added to this severe problem was the pressure and fear caused by the Marathas and the British, which eventually resulted in uprisings. In 1774,the Halba rebellion began. The Governer of Dongar , Ajmer Singh ,was the initiator of the revolt of Halba . The revolution of Halba was started with the desire of Formimg the new and independent state in Dongar

10. The Halba tribe as well as the soldiers stood beside Ajmer Singh. The British armies and the Marathas suppressed them, and in a massacre, many of the Halba tribal people were killed. Subsequently, the army of Halba was also defeated. However, the situation was such after the defeat of the Halba army that the history of the district of Bastar changed forever.
