Photo Stories

Photo Story 1: “From Severe Malnourishment to Recovery: Gina's Journey” Source: The LGU of Tantangan , South Cotabato Gina Sampalan was identified as severely underweight during a home visitation by the Barangay Nutrition Scholar . She was 21 months old, weighing only 7.5 kg, and could not stand or walk without support . Her parents had no permanent job to support their daily needs, and her mother was uneducated and lacked basic information on preparing healthy foods for her children. The Municipal Health Office intervened, and Gina received nutrition counseling and care practice sessions . She was given Manna Pack for 120 days of supplementary feeding from the Hapag- asa Integrated Nutrition Program. Gina's parents were grateful for their daughter's recovery. As of May 2018, Gina is a healthy and happy child, weighing 9.8 kg at 27 months.

Photo Story 2: “From Underweight to Active: Mark Joshua’s Journey with Hapag-Asa’s Feeding Project” Despite Mark Joshua’s minimal weight gain, they are grateful for the nutritious food and look forward to the next cycle of the feeding project. Mark Joshua was underweight at 18 kg before participating in a feeding project supported by Hapag-Asa. After receiving Manna Pack rice for 6 months, Mark Joshua’s weight increased to 21 kg , and he became a more active and happier child. Jocelyn, Joshua’s mother enjoyed cooking the meal pack and found ways to make it more enjoyable for her son , such as mixing dried vegetables and adding an egg. Source: SHARE, Inc.
