PROJECT BACKGROUND Aim: Mission: Problem: Enhancing support and services for the ageing population in Hastings County and its municipalities. Addressing the evolving needs of the ageing population in Hastings County and its municipalities amidst demographic shifts and social trends. To optimize the quality of life for the ageing population through development initiatives and strategic investments in Hastings County.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS Identify demographics and social trends of the aging population in Hastings County and its 14 municipalities. Identify services available for the aging population with its location in Hastings County. Identify future services investments to best support the aging population of Hastings County. Identify type of development on the vacant land owned by Hastings County.

Emergency and Paramedic Services Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services provides Ambulance services to Hastings and Prince Edward Counties along with the two cities of Belleville and Quinte West. Headquarters location: Belleville, Bancroft, Madoc, Quinte West, and Picton. Housing Services The Hastings Local Housing Corporation owns and operates 1473 social housing units. Properties location: Bancroft, Belleville, Coe Hill, Deseronto, Madoc, Marmora, Stirling, Quinte West (Trenton and Frankford Wards), and Tweed. Long Term Care Hastings County operates two long-term care homes: Hastings Manor(Belleville) and Hastings Centennial Manor(Bancroft). Location: western part of Belleville, Ontario, and is a sister-home to Centennial Manor in Bancroft, Ontario. Expanded Home Care Services Consider offering comprehensive home care services that include personal care, medication management, nutritious meal preparation, housekeeping, regular health check-ins, and meaningful social and emotional support. Transportation Services Social Engagement Programs Establish senior centers with social activities and community engagement programs, organize outings and social clubs. Additionally, prioritize social engagement programs specifically designed for single and lonely individuals. Provide subsidized transportation for medical appointments and groceries, offer door-to-door options for those with mobility challenges, and improve transport connections across Hastings County's 14 municipalities for accessibility to essential services. Senior Community Centers: A community center can host a variety of programs and activities, serving as a hub for social interaction and community engagement. 3. Healthcare Facilities: Establishing clinics or specialized healthcare services on the land can provide convenient access for long-term care home residents and the surrounding community.
