UNIVERSITY VISION

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The BSIE program is an undergraduate teacher education program that equips learners with
adequate and relevant competencies in teaching specific area in Industrial Arts or Home Economics or
Information Communication Technology or Agri-Fishery Arts – the four areas of Technology and Livelihood
Education and Industrial Education in the K to 12 Curriculum.

The BSIE program aims to develop highly competent and motivated teachers and trainers in various areas
of specialization.

The Industrial Education and/or Technology and Livelihood Education curriculum shall impart a body of
knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and experiences that will provide prospective elementary (Grade 4 to 6)
“Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan” (EPP) and junior high school (Grade 7 to 10) Technology and
Livelihood Education (TLE) teachers with the necessary competencies essential for effective teaching and at
the same time are accredited TVET Trainers and Assessors.

Specifically, after 4 years, the program aims to develop teachers who can:
1. apply knowledge of mathematics, science, social sciences, languages to broadly defined technology
and livelihood education and industrial education activities
2. exhibit deep understanding and appreciation of the teaching profession through effective teaching
practices
3. demonstrate higher level of coherent knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values in the field of technology
and livelihood education and industrial education.

5. Course Description: This course provides Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education
(BSIE) and Bachelor of Technical and Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTeD) students
with an overview of the home economics education, which includes history, philosophy, and
Home Economics area of specialization such as human development and family studies,
household resource management and consumer education, arts and crafts, clothing and
textile, foods and nutrition and beauty care and wellness. Also, this consists of the role in
societal development in relevance to human and non-human resources management. It also
covers the knowledge required of the competencies in the various sub-areas of Home
Economics.
