2. TYPES OF DISEASES Communicable These are caused by attack of microorganisms such as bacteria, virus, fungi or protozoan. Example common cold, tuberculosis and diarrhea

3. virus A virus is a microorganism that lives in a cell of another living thing. Viruses can be seen only with an electron microscope. They range in size from about to micron ( One micron equals to mm )

4. Polio ( poliomyelitis ) It is a disease caused by RNA virus called polio virus It spreads mainly by human faeces or interstinal discharge.

5. protozoa The protozoans ( protos = first + zoon = animal ) are most primitive and simplest animal.

6. Malaria It is called by protozoan Plasmodium which is present in the saliva of female Anopheles.

7. Helminths It includes flatworms and roundworms. They cause many disease in man.

8. Filaria ( Elephantiasis ) It is caused by filarial worm Wuchereria bancrofti. The filarial worm is the parasite of man living in lymphatic and connective vessel.

9. Fungus Fungi are non-green plants and includes mold, rusts and puff balls.

10. Ringworm It is a fungal disease which affects the skin, hairs or nails of a person.

11. Non-communicable Diseases The disease which cannot transferred from one person to another are called non-communicable disease. There are 5 categories of Nom-communicable Disease Deficiency diseases Allergic diseases Social diseases Degenerative diseases Inherited diseases
