HEALTH

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity. Health can be promoted by encouraging healthful activities, such as regular physical exercise and adequate sleep, and by reducing or avoiding unhealthful activities or situations. Some factors affecting health are due to individual choices, such as whether to engage in a high-risk behavior, while others are due to structural causes, such as whether the society is arranged in a way that makes it easier or harder for people to get necessary healthcare services. Still other factors are beyond both individual and group choices.

When you are mentally healthy your mind is alert, you learn from mistakes, and recognize achievement. EMOTIONAL/SOCIAL HEALTH An individual is emotionally healthy, when the feelings experienced are appropriate responses to the event. An individual is socially healthy when he/she has loving relationships, respect the rights of others and give and accept help.

NUTRITION FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS

NUTRITION FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS  Choose good carbs, not no carbs Pay attention to the protein package. Fish, poultry, nuts, and beans are the best choices. Choose foods with healthy fats, limit foods high in saturated fat, and avoid foods with trans fat. Plant oils, nuts, and fish are the healthiest sources  Choose a fiber-filled diet, rich in whole grains, vegetables, and fruits Eat more vegetables and fruits. Go for color and variety—dark green, yellow, orange, and red Calcium is important. But milk isn’t the only, or even best, source Water is best to quench your thirst. Skip the sugary drinks, and go easy on the milk and juice Eating less salt is good for everyone’s health. Choose more fresh foods and fewer processed foods. A daily multivitamin is a great nutrition insurance policy. Some extra vitamin D may add an extra health boost.

THANK YOU!
