HEALTHY HABITS RULE 1.- EAT HEALTHY We need to eat a balanced diet. Different nutrients help our body systems .
Iron: helps blood carry oxygen around the body. Potassium : helps your heart, muscles and nerves work properly. It prevents high blood pressure. Vitamin C helps your immune system Proteins build muscle and help us grow . Carbohydrate s provide fibre which helps move food through the digestive system. Water keeps the body systems functioning properly.
RULE 2. EXERCISE Regular exercise helps our circulatory and respiratory system. When we exercise, we breathe faster and our heart has to work harder and gets stronger .
RULE 3. SLEEP Sleep helps the brain develops. When we sleep our body rests and grows .
RULE 4. KEEP CLEAN We must wash our hands before eating and after going to the toilet to remove germs. We need to remove food and plaque from our teeth by brushing them at least twice a day.
RULE 5. HAVE MEDICAL CHECK-UPS Medical check-ups check that our body systems are working properly. The doctor makes sure you have the vaccinations you need to protect you from certain diseases It’s a good idea to have check-ups with your dentist and optician too.
UNHEALTHY HABITS 1.- INFECTIOUS DISEASES Some diseases are contagious, they spread from person to person through the air. The germs enter the body through the nose or mouth . The body has natural defences., such as white blood cells. Your defences will be stronger if: You get plenty of rest. Drink enough water. Exercise. Have a healthy diet.
2.-BAD EATING HABITS Eating a lot of fast food and doing little exercise can cause weight problems and heart disease. Too much sugar can cause weight problems and too much salt can be bad for your heart. Some foods also contain some additives that are very bad for your body.
3.-STARING AT A SCREEN Play video games for short periods . Playing video games too often can result in: Weight gain Sleep loss Headaches Backache Eye strain
4.-ALLERGIES Some people are allergic to dust, pollen, animal hair and certain foods . An allergy is when you have a bad reaction to something you eat, breath or touch .
Smoking can stop your growing, and affect your lungs and heart. 5.- ALCOHOL AND TOBBACCO Alcohol can harm your liver, heart and brain .
