HEATING EFFECT OF AN ELECTRIC CURRENT: HEATER

HOW TO MAKE ?

Materials Needed : 1.Aluminium Foil 2.Any metal 3.Wires 4. 4 Batteries 5.Switch

Process : Take the Aluminium Foil and wrap it around the metal. Connect an end of it to wire and the wire to the switch , another end ( Aluminium Foil) to the positive terminal of the battery.

Now connect the negative terminal of the battery to the switch using a wire.

Put the metal (wrapped with Aluminium Foil) in water . Now put the switch in ON position. Wait for 5 minutes. Now put the switch in OFF position. The water will be warm

HOW DOES IT WORKS ?

When switch is turned ON current starts flowing . The current when passes through the Aluminum Foil wire it heats it up. This heat is transferred to metal in which the nichrome is coiled up.

When this process repeatedly happens , water starts absorbing the heat from the metal and warm up.

PHENOMENON HEATING EFFECT OF ELECTRIC CURRENT : WHEN CURRENT FLOWS , IT PRODUCES HEAT. THIS PROCESS OF PRODUCTION OF HEAT BY FLOW OF ELECTRIC CURRENT IS CALLED HEATING EFFECT OF ELECTRIC CURRENT .
