7. KiliyurFallsisawaterfallintheShervaroyanhillrangeintheEasternGhats,
TamilNadu.ThewatersoverflowingtheYercaudLakefall300ft(91meters)
intotheKiliyurValley.Thefallsissituatedatadistanceof2.5kilometres(1.6
miles)fromtheYercaudlake.Thefinal500meters(1,600feet)orsoconsist
onlyofaroughunpavedsteeppathway.Butitisabreathtakingsightinthe
monsoontimewhenthewaterlevelsareatthemaximum.Thebesttimeto
visitthisplaceisimmediatelyafterthemonsoons.

Shevaroyanwhoisbelievedtobethelordofthehills.AnotherdeityhereisGoddess
KaveriwhoisbelievedtopreserveRiverCauveri.Thetempleislocatedinsideadark
andnarrowcave,whichisimpenetrablebehindtheidolsofLordShevaroyanand
GoddessKaveri.Thenativetribescometothisplaceinhundredsduringthetimeof
theannualfestivalinthetemple,whichisinthemonthofMay.Theviewfromthis
placeisbreathtakingwithseveralhillsallaroundwiththeextensiveplains
spreadingacrossthehills.

11. Lady’sSeatisaclusterofRocksontheSouthWestoftheYercaudhillsoverlooking
theghatroadandthetownofSalemtotheSouth.Thereisanaturalrock
formationintheformofaseatwherereportedlyawhiteEnglishLadyofyester
yearsspenthereveningsviewingthemagnificentpanoramabeforeone’seyes.
Thereisasheerdropofabout200feetatthispointintoaprivateestateinthe
valleybelow.ThereisamanmadeviewingtowerwithTelescopes.Onecanseethe
magnasitedepositsontheplainsandoncleardaysaviewofMetturDam.One
shouldnotmissthenightviewoftheSalemtownwithmillionsoftwinklinglights.
Thereisaminiparkanditisabreathtakingspotforapicnic.

westoftheYercaudHillsthatoverlooktheGhatRoadandthetownof
Salemmakingitoneofthemostfrequentlyvisitedsitesinthetown.
