Introduction

Kingdom vs Empire A kingdom is made up of land from the same region or territory that is ruled by a king or queen. An empire is a sovereign state made up of many countries or cultures that are ruled by a single individual, usually an emperor or empress.

Medieval Kingdoms in India

The Sultanate Period The period from 1206 to 1526 is known as the age of the Delhi Sultanate. Delhi was the capital of sultans who conquered a large part of the Indian Subcontinent. Five dynasties ruled during this period.

Dynasty A dynasty is the series of rulers or dynasts from one family . A family or line or rulers, a succession of sovereign of a country belonging to a single family or tracing their descents to a common ancestor.

The Rajputs dynasties The word ‘ Rajpu t ’ comes from the Sanskrit word ‘ rajputra ’ which means son of a king. They belongs to various The Tomars , Chauhans , Solankis , Paramaras , Gahadavalas and the Chandellas were some of the important Rajput clans that ruled during the period.
