2. HMT Introduction HMT Limited was established in 1953 in technical collaboration with M/s. Oerlikon of Switzerland. It had technical collaboration with over 30 leading International Engineering Companies for manufacture of various products

4. HMT Pinjore unit After establishing two machine tools factories and a watch factory in Bangalore, the Pinjore unit was established as the third machine tool factory. It went to production on 1st October 1963. The factory has been designed, built and commissioned in a record period of 17 months of breaking the ground on May 2, 1962. Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru the first prime minister of India inaugurated it on October 23, 1963. Later in June 1971 HMT tractor project commenced its operation here. This unit is located about twenty kilometers from Chandigarh, near the town of Pinjore in Haryana.

6. Foundry Shop There is well-equipped and modernized foundry running in HMT. There are 3  electric furnaces working in the foundry. All the requirements of tractor division and machine tool division are fulfilled by this foundry. Casting is the final product of the foundry. Liquid metal is poured into mould and the molten metal takes the shape of the cavity.

8. Heavy Machine Shop In heavy machine shop all the heavy parts of tractor are machined like Gear box housing, Main transmission housing, front cover etc. All the parts undergo different types of operations like milling, drilling, boring, tapping, slotting etc, in HMS section

11. Engine Shop In engine shop, manufacturing of the engine parts is done. There are two manufacturing lines, one is each for manufacturing of connecting rod and cam shaft. Various engine parts are also machined.

13. Processes In Engine Shop Material is cut according to the desired length. Facing and centering of the shaft on the lathe machine. Turning of shaft on the copy turning machine. Straightening of shaft on pressing machine. Drilling of the shaft for Lubrication. Inspection of the cam shaft. After the Engine Shop, Cam Shaft and Connecting Rod is sent to the Heat treatment shop for hardening.

14. LIGHT MACHINE SHOP   As the name suggests that in this section light parts or small parts of tractors are machined such as speed gears of tractor, sun and planet gears, crown wheel, PTO shaft, Clutch shaft, Spline shaft, Front and rear axle.

16. Engine AssemblyShop After all the processes the different parts of engine is assembled in the engine assembly shop. In engine assembly different engine of different models are assembled like 2522, 3522, 4022, 5022, 6522 and 7522.
