Home and Family Living The family is the smallest yet the most important unit of society. It consists of the father, the mother and their children.

Duties and Responsibilities of Family members 1. Father Provide the basic needs of the family. Make important decisions together with the mother. Participate actively in managing the household and taking care of the children. Take care of the garden and do home repairs.

2. Mother Manage the budget of the family. Supervise and coordinate the household tasks. Prepare the family budget. Prepare food and keep the house in order. Take care of the children and teach them morals and values. Help earn a living to increase the family income.

3. Big sister Help with household chores such as fixing the bed, dusting furniture and sweeping floors, cooking, shopping, food preparation, dishwashing, laundering, and repairing clothes. Take care of younger siblings.

4. Big brother Clean the house Help father do simple repairs Plant and water plants Feed the pets

5. Younger siblings Do simple tasks like keeping their things orderly. Put toys in proper places Pick up small litters

Factors to consider when making a work schedule 1. Age- Young children are full of energy and move faster than adults. 2. Ability and experience- Being able to do a task well will help develop a child’s self-confidence. 3. Strength- There are tasks that require more energy. 4. Time- The length of time to be given for a specific task should be enough so that it will be done properly.

Rooms of the House and Their Functions 1. Bedroom - This is where family members sleep and rest. 2. Living room - This room is probably where most of the family activities are done. 3. Kitchen - This room is the busiest place in the house because this is where the food for the family are prepared.

4. Dining room - This room is where the family eats together. 5. Bathroom - This room is not only used for bathing but also for attending to personal necessities. 6. Laundry area - This is where clothes are washed and dried. 7. Porch - This is commonly known as balcony.

8. Garage - This is where cars or any vehicle is parked. 9. Storage Room - This room is where goods and supplies that are not used in day to day activities are kept. 10. Attic - This can be a room or a space just below the roof of the house that is used to store things. 11. Pantry - This is a small room in which food is stored.
