2. Bromine was discovered independently by two chemists,  Carl Jacob Löwig [4]  and  Antoine Balard ,in 1825 and 1826, respectively. Bromine  is a  chemical element  with the symbol  Br  and  atomic number  35. It is the third-lightest  halogen , and is a fuming red-brown  liquid  at room temperature that evaporates readily to form a similarly coloured vapour .. ABOUT BROMINE

3. Elemental bromine is very reactive and thus does not occur  free  in nature, but in colourless soluble crystalline mineral halide  salts , analogous to  table salt . At  standard conditions for temperature and pressure  it is a liquid; the only other element that is liquid under these conditions is  mercury . Its properties are intermediate between those of  chlorine  and  iodine

4. Bromine is the third  halogen , being a  nonmetal  in group 17 of the periodic table . Its properties are thus similar to those of  fluorine ,  chlorine , and  iodine , and tend to be intermediate between those of the two neighbouring halogens, chlorine, and iodine.
