Afghanistan Terrain Land Locked Country Size 251,825 square miles (Slightly smaller than Texas) Age Expectancy 50 years Population 31 million GDP $1,100 Occupation 80% of population agriculture-dependent Literacy Rate 28% Infant Mortality 122/1000 Maternal Mortality 14/1000 Unemployment 35% Vocational Skill Only 6% of students are enrolled in vocational skills after 12 th Grade Education Infrastructure Only 50% of schools have buildings

Unemployment is a major issue facing the young people in Afghanistan . Reduced International funding support has made the situation more bleak. More than 823,000 young Afghans are unemployed and approximately 400,000 are added to this number every year. Current Situation HOPE NOW

In July 2012, HOPE worldwide set up a HOPE Community Centre i n the outskirts of Kabul. With an objective to provide skills to improve employment opportunities such as Computer and English language. HOPE COMMUNITY CENTRE HOPE worldwide Afghanistan established in 2001, is in its 15 th year of operation.

Until Dec 2015, HOPE community centre has seen 352 students graduate (178 in Computers and 174 in Communication English) Of these students many have already found jobs and are using their newly found skills. Bringing Hope. Changing Lives.

Currently HOPE community centre has enrolled and disseminating training to over 170 young Afghans from low income backgrounds . These students and the local community are very grateful for the opportunities created because of HOPE worldwide Afghanistan Bringing Hope. Changing Lives.

We are in the 15 th year of operation. We started with one small clinic and four staff in 2001. This grew to 150 staff working to help tens of thousands of poor Afghans through health, education, irrigation and vocational programs. HOPE worldwide in Afghanistan

Healthcare training in various hospitals in Kabul and Kandahar Research in Healthcare: baseline surveys on HIV/AIDS knowledge among 9-12th grades in Hirat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kabul National OB-GYN survey & Training in Kabul and Logar Provinces Primary health care study (GAVI- MoPH ) in Badakshan, Faryab, Kapisa and Wardak Healthcare

Asian Development Bank funded various Vocational & Computer training programs in Wardak, Ghazni, Paktya, Kabul & Kandahar along the road from Kandahar City to Spin Boldak Education & Vocational Training

Construction of 3 Hospitals: Karte-Seh Medical Hospital Karte-Seh Maternity Hospital Emergency dept. at Malalai Maternity Hospital Set up of Health Centre: Kapisa Provinces Construction of Schools: Kabul & Wardak Provinces Construction of Health Centers & Schools Kandahar province Construction & Rehabilitation

Partnered with the Asian Development Bank in Rural Recovery (project JFPR - 9039) 74 irrigation projects were completed through Community-led rehabilitation & development of irrigation systems in Jowzjan, Faryab and Sar-e-Pul Provinces Community Based Irrigation

One by One program Delivered 22 cargo containers of food and clothes to the poor during the winter months . Hospital feeding program Provided heaters and fuel during the winter months to 12 hospitals in Central Afghanistan. Disaster Preparedness & Relief
