Teenage TV Dramas By Molly, Abbie and Lola

Riverdale How are teenagers represented? In Riverdale, there can be moments were they are stereotypical. For example: There’s a mean girl, jocks, gangs. However, how they act is more realistic. They have friendship groups like people do. Cheryl – Cheryl is quite a stereotypical character. She is the mean girl and she rules the school. She has always got what she wanted until she found out her parents ere murderers. She’s now friends with Morgan who is part of the South Side Serpents, the gang of the South Side. They are perceived as a violent crew and to the North Side, they are seen as very dangerous.

Pretty Little Liars How are teenagers represented? In Pretty Little Liars, there is a friendship group of teenage girls they are presented s always having to look perfect in everyway with layers of makeup. They are shown as mischievous and backstabbing which is a stereotype of teenage girls. In the first episode, it shows one of the girls being rebellious and shoplifting. There’s also a girl who is going out with her teacher and went against her parents. These are the type of things teens are stereotyped about.

Vampire Diaries How are teenagers represented? In Vampire Diaries, the teens aren’t very realistic as they kill people although that could be seen as a stereotype of teens being violent. The rest of the series isn’t realistic or stereotypical because it involves turning into vampires and witches. There is sexual content which some people will believe all teens are like.

Insatiable How are teenagers represented? In Insatiable, it shows a teens transformation from being fat to becoming skinny and pretty. This can be seen as being stereotypical because a teenage girl wants to be pretty with lots of makeup and losing weight. The programme also features the teenage girl getting revenge by being violent and also entering a beauty pageant. In one of the episodes, it shows them taking drugs and under aged sex which is also a stereotype of teens

On My Block How are teenagers represented? Teenagers are represented as being violent and in gangs. This is stereotyping teens as to what people older than them think. Older people see these kind of programmes and assume that this is how all teens are. There is also sexual content and under age drinking.
