Topic – About Sikkim Animal

ABOUT SIKKIM Sikkim is a state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. Part of the Him . alayas, the area has a dramatic landscape that includes India’s highest mountain, 8,586m Kangchenjunga. Sikkim is also home to glaciers, alpine meadows and thousands of varieties of wildflowers. Steep paths lead to hilltop Buddhist monasteries such as Pemayangtse, which dates to the early 1700s.

People and Culture The People of Sikkim consist of three ethnic groups, that is,  Lepcha ,  Bhutia  and  Nepali . Communities of different hues intermingle freely in Sikkim to constitute a homogenous blend. Hindu Temples coexist with Buddhist Monasteries, Churches, Mosque and Gurudwara. The predominant Communities are Lepchas, Bhutias and Nepalese. These myriad Cultures has produced a quintessential Sikkimese Culture that encompasses all ways and walk of life, but has also managed to preserve their own identity. These can also be seen in the various places of Worship, Festivals and Cultural dances that are celebrated through the year

Yak

Yak Safari in Sikkim A trip on the back of Yak, moving through the craggy trails, in the midst of angelic beauty of Sikkim, actually addresses the appreciation of every person. Organized in different parts of Sikkim, Yak Safari is truly an unforgettable ride. One can ride the back of a Yak at Tsomgo Lake in East Sikkim also in the Chopta Valley, Lachen and Lachung in North Sikkim. The Yaks have been domesticated since centuries in Sikkim. In the recent years, the animal has been used to create an adventure spirit among people and travelers. The tourists from far-off lands come here to enjoy this tranquil ride on a Yak. Moreover, in the hoard of other adventure sports, Yak Safari is a sport that is enjoyedby people of every age-group. Another interesting fact about the Yak is that it is found in alpine zones, where the low temperature is just ideal to ensemble the requirements of this mammal. It is for sure that once you take this safari, it would really become a memorable part of your reminiscences of your trip to Sikkim. About 67 Yaks are registered with the Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation, Govt of Sikkim.
