How to Purchase Products in Different Units of Measure (UOM) in Odoo 17 Enterprise
Introduction Enterpr ise In these slides, we will discuss how Odoo makes it easier to configure Purchase UOM for products, create purchase orders, convert units, confirm purchase orders, and receive products. Let's explore how these features can benefit our business.
Enterprise Let's navigate to the Sales Module. Once we're there, we can access the "Configuration" menu.
Enterprise Under the Configuration menu, there is an option for "Unit of Measure Categories". Click on it to view the existing data in a tree view. Also we can create new.
Enterprise We have an option to edit existing data or create a new unit of measure category. Please refer to the attached screenshot for the steps to edit existing data.
Enterprise Add a new UOM category and assign it to a new product as purchase UOM.
Enterprise Next, we need to determine the cost and sales price for the product. After that, navigate to the Purchase Module and create a purchase order for the product that was just created. This will display the purchase UOM which we set for the product.
Enterprise From the screenshot provided, it is apparent that the unit price stands at 800. This is because we have set the "bigger than the reference unit" and "bigger ratio" as 8, which means the unit is 8 times bigger than the reference unit. As a result, the cost price is 100, and since it is 8 times larger, we arrive at a unit price of 800 for a bunch.
Enterprise Let’s confirm the order and check the receipt screen. On this screen, the demand quantity is shown as 8. This is because we have set the Purchase UOM to be 8 times bigger than the reference unit.
Enterprise Let's navigate to the sales module and create a sales order for the same product as the purchase order to understand the difference between UOM and Purchase UOM.
Enterprise In the screenshot above, the unit of measurement (UOM) is set to units because the ratio is set to 1, resulting in a unit price of 100.
