Lord Shiva. Located at an altitude of 3,583 meters (11,755 feet), Kedarnath is set against the

Significance: According to legend, after the Kurukshetra War, the Pandavas sought Lord Shiva
to absolve them of their sins. Shiva eluded them repeatedly, finally taking refuge at Kedarnath in
the form of a bull. When discovered, he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface.
The temple is built around this hump, making it one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
