But serial numbers are distinct numbers allocated for a particular product. Lots and serial numbers in the products will help to manage the inventory, to trace the products that reached their expiry date. This slide will show how to use lots and serial numbers to track products in odoo 17 inventory.

3. Enterprise Configuring Lots, Serial Numbers, and Traceability To activate Lots & Serial numbers, go to Inventory Settings -> Lots & Serial numbers (inside Traceability tab). To enable Display Lots & Serial Numbers on Invoices, go to Inventory Settings -> Display Lots & Serial Numbers on Invoices (inside Valuation tab).

5. Enterprise Product Traceability Inside Product Forms Traceability of the product can be seen on the inventory tab of product form. Inside the TRACEABILITY section there will be a Tracking option. There is an option By Unique Serial Number, the product will track based on its serial number.

7. Enterprise Operation Types and Setting Traceability It is also possible to set the traceability option in operation types inside the inventory module. For that go to Configuration -> Operation Types

9. Enterprise When opening an operation type, there are different types of operations inside the “Type of Operations” field (Receipt, Delivery, Internal Transfer, Manufacturing, Repair, and Dropship).

10. Enterprise In the “LOTS/SERIAL NUMBERS” section, there are 2 options: "Use existing" and "Create new”. When purchasing a product, users can select either pre-existing lots and serial numbers or generate new ones.

11. Enterprise How to track and trace a product using Serial Numbers If any purchase order or quotation occurs, then it is possible to track the product or order by the serial number. First set the “Traceability” for the product.

12. Enterprise For example create a purchase order, with the product with traceability by serial number.

13. Enterprise After confirming the order, the Receipts smart button will be shown. This button will give the details of the product.

14. Enterprise Open the receipts and click the menu icon inside the operations, then it will open a popup. Users can generate serial numbers from there.

15. Enterprise Enter the serial number for the product. And click on the save button. After that validate the receipts.

16. Enterprise Auto Generating Serial Numbers There is also an automatic solution to generate serial numbers. For that click on the option Generate Serials/Lots in the pop up. Then it will show another pop up for serial number generation. User can give the first SN and the number of SN will be automatically shown. Then click on the Generate button.
