The Accounting Principles Of Accounting
Introduction
Measurement of accounting elements is the most significant factors that entail the process of preparing
financial statements. Accounting measurements presents the vital economic objectives for various
accounting entities (Horngren, 2009). Fair value refers to a financial reporting approach operating
under the accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This accounting method is also referred to as Mark
market accounting practice. In united Sates majority of the public and private companies uses fair
value accounting approach to measure and report value chains of various business assets and liabilities
calculated from the actual or the estimated current fair market prices (Barth, 2014). It is evident that
any changes that occur in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, fair value entails the replacement and also the cost of substitutes. For instance, the fair value
of an asset is expressed as the given amount at which a specified asset is bought and sold in the
current transaction involving willing parties, other than in the process of liquidation. On the other side,
when dealing with a company s balance sheet, the fair value of liability is the state at which the
liability is likely to be incurred or settled in the agreed transaction between various willing parties. In
this case, if the fair value is available, the quoted market price in the given active market remains the
best evidence of the fair value, and it is usually expressed as the basis for the measurement. In any
active market, fair value is more liquid with small bids which makes the difference between the sell
and the product purchase prices. Fair value is different from the carrying value in that; the carrying
value is expressed as the current asset or liability value commonly based on the company s balance
sheet, while the fair value of an asset or liability is mostly expressed as the market to market value
different from the carrying value which accounts to the figures of the particular asset on the company
s balance sheet. Estimates of company s fair value are made using either the quoted market price or
using the best information available in a given circumstance (Barlev Haddad, 2013).). If the two
factors are not available,

The Role Of Gentrification In Denver
Gentrification in Denver The Denver metro area is flourishing in construction, re construction, jobs,
and growing population, but is it viewed to be a positive aspect of the growing community, or
negative? Gentrification is a weighted topic of discussion for Denver and will continue to be on the
rise as our community progresses to grow. Gentrification as defined from dictionary.com, is the
buying and renovation of houses and stores in deteriorated urban neighborhoods by upper or middle
income families or individuals, thus improving property values, but often displacing low income
families and small businesses. While some people view gentrification as a beautiful and positive way
to clean up deteriorated neighborhoods, other people see gentrification ... Show more content on

Bobby Lefebre says, Watching everything I love about my neighborhood slowly walk into a mere
memory is disheartening. It seems like every day there is a new institution, business, or mural being
cleared away to make room for the new. This quote not only helps you understand just how upsetting
gentrification is to people who were rooted in these areas, but also how the original atmosphere is no
longer apart of the neighborhood. These Chicanos, are not saying that people of other races or
backgrounds cannot live in these neighborhoods as well, they just want it to be the same tight knit
group of people who are able to help each other out and provide information to people of the same
background. The idea of a tight knit community plays an important role in preservation and is
imperative to these individual s survival. Bobby Lefebre also writes, Let s honor our past by ensuring
Northside communities of all backgrounds are not erased. Let s work together to preserve our diverse
traditions and cultural artifacts; even if preservation means creating things anew. Even though
gentrification is happening in multiple neighborhoods, there is still ideas for how to keep the original
feel and the historical value that people who have lived in the area for a long time would benefit from
and help give peace of mind, with the changes that are happening in their neighborhood. The ongoing
stories of these people can remain in the neighborhood and will grow with them as well as the
growing communities. Jolie Diepenhorst comments at the end of Bobby Lefebre s article and her
comment is another voice for how truly upsetting gentrification is to people and the history of the
area. She says, This is a beautifully written piece that illustrates everything that is

Sports Agents Essay
Sports Agents
People have been entertained by sport since before the gladiators in the Roman Coliseum. In the 20th
century, the publics passion for sport consumes more and more of their free time. As sports figures
became internationally recognized, athletes began to realize their need for professional representation.
Thus, sports agents were born. The field of sports agents has grown since then into an enormous field.
Agents now deal with every aspect of an athlete s life. Agents can be considered professional mangers
who find the best place for their client s talent.
Sports Agents have not been around for a long time. Until the 1970 s, very few players had agents
because teams would not deal with agents (Masteralexis, 244). ... Show more content on

This system bound players to teams and allowed owners to depress salaries of players.
The second factor was the development of competing leagues. Competing leagues such as the
American Football League, the American Baseball Association, the World Hockey Association, and
the United States Football League offered an alternative to athletes (Masteralexis, 246). These leagues
offered higher salaries to induce players to move from their original teams. When players left a team
to for more money, it also increased the salaries of players who stayed on the team. Agents played a
crucial role in determining what was best for athletes, and which league they should choose.
The third reason for the growth of Sports Agency is the evolution of players associations. The Major
League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) led the move away from informal, powerless
associations to true labor organizations that took part in collective bargaining (Masteralexis, 246). This
organized a central association to bargain for players income, post career income, tax breaks, and
others. The union also made it possible for players to fight, or even strike to get what they wanted.
One of the largest accomplishments of the MLBPA was establishing free agency. This was able to
happen when Major League Baseball and the MLBPA went through negotiations and the MLBPA won
the right to labor grievance arbitration. Under this arbitration the MLBPA achieved free agency. The

Analysis Of The Hermeneutical Spiral By Grant Osborne
Interaction
Researcher and author Grant Osborne composed a manuscript entitled The Hermeneutical Spiral: A
Comprehensive Introduction to Biblical Interpretation. In the manuscript, Osborne highlights a central
idea in or theme in chapter 2 by which he explicitly states his principal purpose was to cite the
importance of ancient genres as it applies to the hermeneutical value of biblical texts. He contends the
bible should not just be understood word for word in the present context as modern day societies
would see fit, but rather the bible has a framework that cannot be comprehended through only the
modern day lenses. Moreover, Osborne argues many of the books of the Bible should not be read and
understood individually as if they are separate narratives that are completely independent of each
other, but rather he contends that the books should be organized and classified in various ways. It
cannot be denied that the various books of the Bible, in many cases, have similarities in their
composition and style which would lead bible students and scholars to study various books in a group.
For example, the books of Malachi, Daniel, Matthew and Revelations all have a semi to a heavy
apocalyptic theme. They are very concerned with eschatology, therefore, it is conceivable that one ...

In this day and age, there is a lack of bible knowledge that is prevalent in various places across the
globe this is according to researcher Ed. Leblanc. Many churches goers have had some difficulty
reading the bible and also committing to fervently studying it. Nevertheless, if Osborne s research is
correct, not only should people be reading their bibles more, but they should be organizing and
classifying it more. Additionally, in a case where some individuals would read the bible linearly from
front to back. It may be more conceivable that the bible should be read in a more logical classified

INTRODUCTION
Migration is the geographic movement of people across a specified boundary for the purpose of
establishing a new permanent or semi permanent residence. Along with fertility and mortality,
migration is a component of the population change. These migrants comprise of the particular group
of people who are landless labourers, seasonally unemployed labourers, agricultural labourers, poor

Large number of people has migrated out of Jammu and Kashmir and Assam during the last few years
due to disturbed conditions there. People also migrate on a short term basis in search of better
opportunities for recreation, health care facilities, and legal advices or for availing service which the
nearby towns provide.
Pull and Push Factors:
Urban centres provide vast scope for employment in industries, transport, trade and other services.
They also offer modem facilities of life. Thus, they act as magnets for the migrant population and
attract people from outside. In other words, cities pull people from other areas. This is known as pull
factor . People also migrate due to push factors such as unemployment, hunger and starvation. When
they do not find means of livelihood in their home villages, they are pushed out to the nearby or
distant towns. Millions of people who migrated from their far off villages to the big cities of Kolkata,
Mumbai or Delhi did so because these cities offered them some promise for a better living. Their
home villages had virtually rejected them as surplus population which the rural resources of land were

Macbeth And Robin Talley s As I Descended By William...
Throughout the history of literature, classic tales have been adapted and rewritten by various authors.
While this practice is more conspicuously noted in popular culture, it has existed for centuries. For
instance, while Gil Junger s 1999 romantic comedy 10 Things I Hate About You is obviously a
retelling of William Shakespeare s Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare s own Romeo and Juliet is an
adaptation of Ovid s Pyramus and Thisbe from Metamorphoses. As a result, retellings are only a
natural occurrence in literature and can oftentimes convey the basic story in new and exciting ways.
On the other hand, retellings can also miss the mark, failing to produce a story that can triumphantly
stand on its own as a work of art. For example, Robin Talley s As I Descended is a modern retelling of
William Shakespeare s Macbeth, being adapted to fall within the genre of young adult literature. When
evaluating As I Descended as a retelling, the characters and basic plot of Macbeth can be identified,
but an added underlying story that introduces unnecessary plot points both causes frustration and
overcomplicates the novel. In Talley s As I Descended, any reader who possesses background
knowledge of Macbeth can easily identify the play s principal characters and overall plot. Without a
doubt, Lord and Lady Macbeth are personified by Maria, the story s main protagonist who carries out
evil deeds for her own success, and Lily, the mastermind who manipulates Maria, respectively.

Finally, we can point out another main challenge for GREENoneTEC that is the rise of raw material
costs which have extremely increased since 1995 (the price of copper had increased by more than 150
percent in 16 years for example). Thus our company has to deal with this increase by looking for
opportunities to reduce the costs of production. It can play on economic scale, searching new suppliers
less expensive or even changing the conception of its products with different raw materials. We can
notice that GREENoneTEC is facing challenges related to the Asian competition, to the search of new
customers and to the lowering of its costs of production. The company needs to confront these
challenges to stand out from the other companies on the solar market and to ensure its permanence.
Solar industry The solar industry is divided in three main markets: the European solar thermal market,
the Chinese market and the market in other world regions. The industry is segmented in two main
types of solar thermal collectors, which are evacuated tube collectors (80 per cent on average of the
worldwide newly installed capacity in 2010) and flat plate collectors (20 per cent on average). This
industry is characteristic of technology intensive industries with their central innovation: solar thermal
water heating which radically reduces costs. They can also count on experimented installers. Each

Essay about Apocalypse Now
Apocalypse Now
This film, from 1979 was directed by Francis Ford Coppula and starred Martin Sheen (Capt. Willard)
and Marlon Brando (Col. Kurtz). The film takes place during the 1970 s in the middle of the Vietnam
War. Coppula was rewarded for his hard work by winning the Academy Award for cinematography.
The story is based on the novel Hearts of Darkness , by Joseph Conrad. The book and film depicts
Capt. Willard in the middle of the Vietnam searching for Col. Kurtz, who has gone mad and started his
own private war. Apocalypse Now uses its scenes to show three types of horror including
psychological, gore, and surprise. Psychological horror plays with human rationalization. Gore shows
a stunning or violent action. Surprise horror ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coppula uses psychological horror to illustrate the barrier between Willard s world and Kurtz s world
as a means of horror in the viewer s mind. The second type of horror is gore, in which a painful
experience is relayed to the viewer. Gore comes to life in films by using special effects to have the
viewer empathize with the characters. The best example of this in Apocalypse Now is when the river
boat captain is speared through the chest gruesomely. He then attempts to impale Willard, by him
towards him and using the same blood soaked spear still in him, before he inevitably dies. When you
see the captain get speared through his chest you feel sympathy for his suffering and you feel his anger
when he tries to kill Willard. At the same time, the viewer feels the desperation of Willard as he fends
for his own life. Coppula uses gore horror here to create the element of empathy and fear for both the
Captain, who dies for what is really Willard s war, and for Willard, who inadvertently has killed the
Captain by putting him in this situation. The surprise horror is created through a dramatic presentation
of events or a sudden shocker. By timing a motion or noise correctly the viewer experiences the
danger themselves of a situation. The scene that best uses surprise horror in the film is when Willard
and the character Chief are in the jungle looking for mangos. The two are suddenly attacked by a tiger

The Effect Barbary Pirates Had on the History of America
The effect Barbary Pirates had on the history of America
Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Tunisia; The current day names for the land of which the Barbary Pirates
had once inhabited. These Barbary States would extort the world of their men and their cargo through
plundering of naval ships. In the same time period there was a newly discovered land, which was
striving to mature into an independent country. This land was known as America, and they were
rigorously tearing apart from their homeland, England. Once the United States declared independence,
British diplomats were quick to inform the Barbary States that U.S. ships were open to attack. In 1785
(PA). The United States did not enjoy paying off the pirates, so they took it to their own hands to stop
this problem once and for all. The defeat of the Barbary States, by Americans helped the naval
security, a huge amount in the future of the Land of the Free , and allowed for lots of fighting
experience.
From 1786 to 1815, the United States made tribute payments to the North African Barbary states to
protect its shipping from pirate raids (Kearney F, Barbary pirates ). This ended when Jefferson was
elected into presidency. He had been against the tribute of the Barbary States his whole life in office,
and so when he was elected, he stopped paying tribute and refused to pay a ransom for many goods
and men that the pirates had rummaged. This angered the pirates, and so war was unofficially
declared, and Jefferson had a blockade

Totalitarian Ideologies Of Fascism And Stalinism
Maheera Syed
Totalitarian Ideologies
The economic downfalls and Great Depression following World War I, provided the perfect
atmosphere for Nazism, Fascism and Stalinism, which had been developing during the war, to rise.
Breaking with the constantly undermined values of individual liberties, freedom and democracy, many
flocked towards the bold leaders of each of these ideologies for a better future. Despite taking place in
different countries, each of these three totalitarian ideologies, led by Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini
and Joseph Stalin, were able to garner a massive following through violence and media, while
promising the desperate people, renewal, ease and economic prosperity in their war torn countries.
After a successful march on Rome, where King Victor Emmanuel III was forced to promote Benito
Mussolini to the status of Prime Minister, the essentially self appointed dictator would ignite fascism
in Italy. The former political journalist defined fascism writing that the more it considers and observes
the future and the development of humanity quite apart from political considerations of the moment,
believes neither in the possibility nor the utility of perpetual peace. The Black Shirts, which consisted
of young men and veterans who supported Mussolini s promotion of militarization and led attacks
against Parliament, were attracted towards his promise of a military utopia and the restoration of men
s warrior status. Their emblem, the fasces, which

Shooting Stars
Shooting Stars
The poem Shooting Stars by Carol Ann Duffy tells a shocking story of a female prisoner held by
Nazis in a concentration camp around the time of the Holocaust. The poem is set in 1940, Hitler and
his Nazi party had taken control of most of Europe and had vowed to exterminate the entire Jewish
race.
Duffy s haunting use of imagery and word choice make this poem so memorable and its very strong
opening prepares the reader for the rest of the poem.
The title choice, Shooting Stars is a very effective and ambiguous title. The first meaning is that the
word Stars represent the Jewish symbol, The Star of David. Jewish people were forced to wear them
on their clothes to mark them out as targets of abuse and torment for ... Show more content on

The word gaze shows that these men are detached from their emotions as they are part of a mass
slaughtering which seems hard to believe that that is humanly possible.
Duffy then uses the literary technique, enjambment to combine the first and second stanzas. This
technique is used to emphasize the point, Mourn for the daughters / upright as statues and carry the
impact through the two stanzas. Duffy shows how the women are stood firm and even in the most
humiliating, de humanised state.
You would not look at me. / You waited for the bullet the woman is looking out for her friend as they
are waiting to be killed. For the woman to be faced with death and looking out for her friend shows
the incredibly selfless personality of the Jews. The following single word line, Fell is a euphemism for
the death of the woman and gives a strong, short impact to the reader and acts like a literary bullet
which is literally the object which killed her.
Duffy tells us to Remember these appalling days which make the world forever bad . She gives the
word Remember a capital letter to emphasize the fact that we should not forget what happened there.
Duffy believes that if the memory of this atrocity stays in our memory, we can avoid any other mass,
human caused disaster to reoccur.
Enjambment is once again used to link stanzas two and three. One saw I was alive. Loosened / his

Jack Ma Leadership Analysis
INTRODUCTION
The objective of this paper is to apply the knowledge learned in class by studying the leadership
characteristics and styles of a leader and what contributed to his/her successes and failures.
In my case I have chosen Jack Ma, founder and executive chairman of Alibaba Group. He has become
one of the most influential businessmen and is a global example of leadership. However, his road to
success was not easy. He had to overcome failure in several occasions and work hard to build his own
company and become an influential and powerful global leader.
The first thing that will be covered in this paper is his biography. This will help to understand what
kind of person he is, how he was able to arrive to a position of power and give an idea of his traits and
behaviors. Next, an in depth leadership analysis will follow. This analysis will be based on the theories
seen in class.
BIOGRAPHY

The Style Of Naturalism In White Fang By Jack London
The aim of life was meat. Life itself was meat. Life lived on life. There were the eater and the eaten.
The law was: EAT OR BE EATEN. This quote from author Jack London s novel, White Fang,
portrays the style of naturalism and the theme of natural selection and survival of the fittest. Jack
London was a naturalist writer. He chose a style and theory of representation based on the accurate
depiction of detail; and he held a viewpoint that everything arises from natural properties and causes.
Natural selection is the process in nature by which, according to Darwin s theory of evolution,
organisms that are better adapted to their environment tend to survive longer and pass on their genetic
characteristics or the survival of the fittest. London s fiction work, White Fang, takes a deeper look
into the savagery of the wild, the cruelty of man, and the chance of new beginnings. White Fang is
considered by many to be one of the greatest coming of age novels ever written.
The setting of White Fang, takes place in Yukon Territory and ends in California. The majority of the
novel is set in what London calls the North. This area is a section of Canada buttressed against Alaska.
The historical significance of this area is that the story occurs during the 1890 s Klondike Gold Rush.
This provides a balancing point between the savagery of the wilderness and civilization, by examining
the violent world of animals and the equally violent world of humans. Jack London wrote White Fang
in the Third person. Third person is a method of storytelling in which the narrator is aware of the
feelings and thoughts of all the characters. Jack London especially used the Third person method,

And Then There None
The Events on Soldier Island: Committed by Justice Wargrave In And Then There None, a novel
written by Agatha Christie, 10 people are found dead on Soldier island. All ten victims are somehow
responsible for a murder in their past and all were trapped on soldier island until their demise. This
occurrence is perplexing as a single murderer could not be pinpointed by detectives. The culprit is
Lawrence Wargrave, a retired justice whose occupation can be seen as suspicious. His
characterization, and opportunity to commit the crimes should also be under question. Wargraves job
as a justice is suspicious due to clues in And Then There None. In the novel we are given hints and
nudges to the judicial system through a voice playing on a gramophone, and some suspiciously
organized discussions. During dinner the occupants of Soldier island are interrupted by a mysterious
voice that accuses every character of a murder. This voice ends with Prisoners at the bar, have you
anything to say in your defence? (43) This is a clear indication that Wargrave is the murderer as he is
the only one with experience sentencing prisoners to receive justice. Wargrave can be seen heading

dies. All of Wargraves bland reactions seem to suggest that he was expecting each event to

Being Frugal Research Paper
We all want to save money and often times go the extra mile to do so, but is there a such thing as too
frugal ?
Definitely! Here s how to gauge when you re taking it a bit too far!
Deprivation: Frugality comes from sparing resources while still meeting your basic needs. Being
frugal should never mean that you are depriving yourself from the basics, i.e food. When budgeting
and determining what changes you re making to your spending habits the most important thing is to
make sure your needs are met regardless. Deprivation is not limited to food, don t deprive yourself
from basic human needs such as new clothes, human interaction ( trust me, avoiding spending money
on activities can cause this) and special personal advances. Keep your needs met and it will all fall in
place.
Senseless Frugality: This refers to spending money foolishly. Being frugal has to make sense, if not
you re doing it wrong. I urge you to remember Cheaper does not mean better for your pockets! Buying
the paper plates that cost 99 cents for 100 may seem like a better option in comparison to the $2.99 for
40. But let take a closer look the food seeps through the cheaper version and you ll run through it
twice as fast hence this is what we refer to as senseless frugality you save a little right now but spend
more on the bottom line. This correlates to your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Estrogen Case Study
The brain is a major target organ for action of estrogens in both men and women. Estrogen s
neuroactive effects are multifaceted and encompass a system that ranges from the chemical to the
biochemical treatment to the genomic mechanisms, protecting brain against a wide range of
neurotoxic insults. Circulating estradiol enters the cell nucleus where it can bind two types of
receptors, ERα or ERβ. The complexes act as nuclear transcription factors by binding to an ERE
(Estrogen response element) and stimulating gene transcription which leads to increase in cellular
proteins that, by increasing neural transmission function, enhance cognitive function. Estrogen plays
important neurotrophic and neuroprotective roles during adulthood and indirectly ... Show more

Mainly in women by oophorectomy or natural menopause, decrease in ovarian hormonal output have
low concentration of estrogen and progesterone and experience a cognition decline. Estrogens have
several established neural actions that are predicted to contribute its theorized protective role against
cognition decline. These neuroprotective actions fall into three general categories: (1) improved
cognition via regulation of various processes including spine density, long term potentiation, and
neurotransmitter systems, (2) protection against neuron cell death, and (3) inhibition of select aspects
of AD neuropathology including Aβ accumulation and tau hyperphosphorylation. The ability of
estrogens to reduce Aβ accumulation may be their most important neuroprotective action against
cognition decline. As mentioned previously, Aβ formation from APP mediated by two pathways either
amyloid genic or non amyloid genic routes. If the production of low levels of soluble APP alpha by
non amyloid genic route and factors influence amyloid genic processing of APP or a reduction in the
Aβ clearance pathways can lead to accumulation of Aβ, which in turn promotes assembly of the Aβ
peptides into toxic oligomers and large insoluble fibrils that can affect brain neurons. This process can
be prevented by estrogen and following menopause the decline in estrogen may then result in
cognition decline due to the deposit of insoluble Aβ

Analysis Of Travel With Steinbeck
In the novel, Travels With Charley , John Steinbeck goes on a journey across all of America, but what
he inscribed was not just a diary describing the places of which he traveled to, it is a story composed
of smaller stories within the book that he uses to describe what he discovered about American society
along the way. One of the excerpts from Travels With Charley that Steinbeck wrote is describing a
waitress he meets at a small restaurant right outside of Bangor, the financial struggle she is in, and
how there are two different types of people in this world. Also, it describes when Steinbeck wants so
badly to give the waitress a tip, but he doesn t because he believes that she won t take it. I believe the
message that John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is explaining that the waitress he met at the restaurant, after having a conversation with her, is a
depressing and boring human being. Steinbeck figures this out by noticing that she has a tone in her
voice, which he doesn t describe, but she has a tone that we can detect by the dialogue he includes in
this section of the novel. Also, by the context of the conversation. Steinbeck includes that the waitress
was the type of person that puts a cloud over everyone s heads and brings out not the positive, but the
negative in every situation. He however does not explain a particular person that brings exuberance to
a situation and always blocks out the negative. This is because John Steinbeck says that the waitress
gets him. From this we can infer that he is not normally a happy and exciting guy. The text says, I d
been driving a long time, and perhaps my energy was low and my resistance down. She got me... For a
moment I considered giving her a five dollar tip, but I know what would happen. She wouldn t be
glad. She d think I was crazy(pg. 47). Looking at the message that John Steinbeck portrays from a
different angle, we can see that the reason a person is such a Buzzkill or a Debbie Downer is because
they are constantly in a bad situation from a financial perspective or from something else. Such as the
waitress John Steinbeck meets, who is struggling financially

four major food chains in America; Industrial, Industrial Organic, Local Sustainable, and Hunter

best to feed America? The adjective best could be categorized as many things, including taste,
accessibility, and affordability. The food chain Industrial Organic is the best way to feed the United
States of America. The Industrial Organic food chain has many benefits and advantages. Unlike

History of Paper
The first historical mention of paper is 104 A.D. in China. The Empress of China at that time loved
books and wanted to have a lot of them made. At the time everything was written on silk scrolls which
were extremely expensive and time consuming to make. She wanted something cheaper and easier to
use and so she asked one of her servants, a gentleman by the name of Tsi Lun to come up with an
alternative. He worked for over nine years experimenting with different things and finally came up
with hemp, mulberry tree bark, silk and old fishing nets all ground up into a mushy pulp. I wonder
how he ever thought of it; the history books don t say. The Empress was very pleased and Tsi Lun was
elevated to a high rank in the court. Unfortunately for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An increase in literacy in the 18 th century and the resultant explosion of print caused a rag shortage
for making paper and research began to find an alternative source of fibers from which to make paper.
The industry, unfortunately, turned toward trees which were rather abundant at the time but getting
rather scarce today because of our love of the use of paper. The reason trees were choosen was their
cellulose content. Cellulose is actually the stuff out of which paper is formed. All plant matter has
cellulose fiber. Some more so than others. Trees have a lot of cellulose.
Why Cellulose? Cunously, the answer lies in the molecular structure of cellulose and water. It is a very
interesting story that borders on magic and wizardry. Water molecules have one large proton and two
little electrons. You could think of an image like a Mickey Mouse head with two ears and you will
have an image of a water molecule. Water molecule electrons have the habit of chaining together on
the surface of water, which causes an effect called surface tension. You could imagine a series of
Mickey Mouse heads joined together at their ears and you will have a picture of how this works. This
chaining process is the key to making paper. Cellulose fibers have one large proton and one electron
with a place on the proton for another electron to chain in (a Mickey Mouse head with only one ear).
When cellulose is suspended in water the water molecules do not discriminate against

Working as a taxi driver Parvez haven t had an ease getting money, but with dedication, he has raised

Bettina works as a mirror in this story. She reflects the set of values that Parvez and Ali have. In their
opinions about her, we can clearly see the difference that Parvez s and Ali s philosophy of life

The thematic in this short story is definitely a culture clash between the West and the muslims. In the
right hand we have a father, Parvez who symbolize the Western culture, and in the left hand we have
Ali who represent the muslims. The story deals with a well known conflict, the divide between the
fundamentalists and the materialists. Not only this it also shows the generational conflict where a son

Parallels Between Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now
Various parallels can be drawn when comparing and contrasting Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness
and Frank Coppola s Apocalypse Now , while taking into consideration Heart of Darkness is a novella
and Apocalypse Now is a film. These differences and similarities can be seen in themes, characters,
events and other small snippets of information including anything from quoted lines to strange actions
of the main characters. Both pieces follow the same story line but they are presented in different
contexts, allowing for many differences as well as the ability to see how Conrad is able to write a
piece of literature that can be transposed to many different settings regardless the time period and still
convey the same message of colonialism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is similar, for the exception that in one they are on the ship in which the shelling occurs, versus
simply being a bystander. It shows how `fire happy these men were ready to fight and kill without a
motive.
Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now both embody the theme of madness and insanity. In Heart of
Darkness madness and insanity come as a result of imperialism, Africa is responsible for mental
disintegration as well as for physical illness. Madness, in Heart of Darkness, is the result of being
removed from ones normal environment and how each person adapts and then re adapts to society.
The same theme of madness and insanity can be seen in Coppola s Apocalypse Now. Many of the
soldier s are just kids, barely 18 or 19, and have little mental stability, since being thrown into a
context that is so foreign to them, where their life is on the line every minute. Men like Chef and
Lance are ready to snap at any moment because of the shock and realization of where they are, what
they are doing, and the fear of not knowing where they are headed. Coppola confronts the insanity of
war through Kurtz and the other young men, he is able to depict what it was like for these men, and
why so many men after serving in Vietnam suffered Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
One interesting event that is different is the endings of Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now. In
Heart of Darkness, Kurtz is dying of a slow death and indeed

Character Analysis Of Empire Rising
In the novel Empire Rising, Michael Briody is a confident, idealistic ironworker from Greenwich
Village Ireland. Originally a soldier fighting in the Civil War, Briody escaped prison camp and came
to America to start a new life in the Bronx. Due to the hardships he faced in Ireland and trying to get a
job in America, Briody now carries an immense love for the work he does on the Empire State
Building. The job he does with the rest of the rivet crew is one of the only things that distracts him
from the guilt of being a hitman. His other diversion is the relationship he pursues with Grace
Masterson, another Irish immigrant who lives on a houseboat. Briody s strong feelings for Grace are
ultimately what lead to his potentially avoidable demise.
The personality traits that Briody carries remain the same throughout the novel, even when he is faced
with hardships. He can only be described as a man of dedication and loyalty who trusts his instincts
and doesn t back down easily. Briody s dedication shows itself in the novel through his love for
working. He s described as an ironworkers posterboy, (06) which further explains that he is devoted to
the work he does on the Empire State Building. The book mentions on multiple occasions that Briody
is addicted to the way building something so monumental makes him feel. Actually, I m truly happy
when I m on the job. There s nothing like it, really. Most people might think it s crazy, but I love the
work, the men. (189) By reading

Analysis and Design Phases Description
Software Engineering is the whole process of developing a software product from beginning to end
using an accepted methodology. One of the common and oldest methods is the Waterfall model which
sets a linear sequence of progression from Requirements gathering and analysis, design,
implementation, testing to maintenance (Philip L, Matthew, Nick, 2002).
Fig (1) the waterfall model of software development
The five common stages include
1. Analysis
At this stage the system requirements are collected and defined. Every existing systems can also be
evaluated and each inadequacy can be highlighted.
2. Design
A design specification is taken from requirements analysis, which plans are prepared related to
physical construction, hardware, operating systems, programming, communications and safety issues.
3. Build
Using the design specification, the system is developed and elements built. Additionally, the system
will also be tested and user training will happen.

positive and sees African Americans as friends. While Tucker sees them as outcasts of society, he
doesn t want them winning their Civil Rights any time soon. I can also say that they are kind of
relatable because they both are able to get a job and have plenty of food to eat. These are just some
differences and some things they have in common. In conclusion, I believe that Miriam is more free
than Tucker can be. Besides Tucker is the one who ended up loosing. This is just my opinion to who

African families are struggling to achieve their dream to be free, but still keep on walking forwards
instead of backwards. The white men, on the other hand, are falling backwards because they don t
