HYDRAULIC BRAKING SYSTEM Presentation by: Sushant Patil

CONTENTS Introduction Why we need Hydraulic Breaking System? Principal of working Working of Hydraulic Breaking System Applications Advantages Disadvantages Applications Conclusion

INTRODUCTION A hydraulic braking system in automobiles is the brake operating system which uses fluid for their operation. It is highly efficient braking system. It is self-lubrication system hence no external lubrication is required. In this system, With less effort, we can achieve high braking force. The hydraulic braking system works on the principle of Pascal’s Law. PASCAL’S LAW:- The pascal law states that “Pressure at any point in a static fluid is equal in all directions”.

Why We Need Hydraulic Braking System ? As the braking of an automobile vehicle is a very crucial safety part so the responses from the brake pedal to the final braking must be very quick which was a failure of a mechanical type braking system and is very well achieved by the hydraulic braking system which provides quick braking. The brake force generated by hydraulic braking system is very high as compared to the mechanical braking which is a very important factor for today’s super and hyper series of vehicles. Frictional wear and tear in case of mechanical braking system was very high due to the involvement of many moving parts, which is very well reduced to the optimum level with the introduction of the hydraulic braking system which has very less moving parts as compared to the mechanical one.

Brake failure chances in the case of hydraulic braking system is very less as compared to the mechanical system due to the direct connection between the actuator ( brake pedal or lever) and the brake disc or drum. Design complexity is reduced with the introduction of the hydraulic braking system. Maintenance is low in hydraulic braking system as it has a simple design with less moving parts.

PRINCIPAL OF WORKING Hydraulic brakes work on the principle of Pascal's law . Pascal's law states that "pressure at on Incompressible fluid is equal in all directions".

WORKING OF HYDRAULIC BRAKING SYSTEM Brake Pedal Pressed. Brake Fluid Pressurized in Master cylinder. Pressurized fluid is travel through hose pipes. Thus, this Pressurized fluid press Brake pad against Brake Rotor. Due to Friction between Brake pad and Brake rotor action is performed.

WORKING OF HYDRAULIC BRAKING SYSTEM

ADVANTAGES Equal braking action on all wheels. Increased braking force. Low wear rate of brake linings. Increased mechanical advantage. Better stopping power than the other Brakes

DISADVANTAGES Whole braking system fails due to leakage of fluid from brake linings Complex construction. More maintenance than other system

APPLICATION Automotive Brake- The Hydraulic Braking System is use in car, Jeep, Mini Truck or in Buses

CONCLUSION The Hydraulic Brake System is being more popular due to its advantages and easy to use. The modern automobiles like bikes, cars, and heavy vehicles are adapting this technology. The fluids used in this system can vary according to its application because the heavy vehicles require more effort or pressure to push the brakes and stop the rotary wheel. Few of its applications can be seen in mopeds nowadays.
