In Othello, William Shakespeare extensively explores female stereotypes that occur

the inferior sex, over whom men had complete control and thus forcing women to act
submissively and obediently in front of their husbands. Men believed that women
were objects who just cooked meals, cleaned the house, and bore children while

Absalom, Absalom! by William Faulkner tells the story of Thomas Sutpen, the son
of a poor white man in the South who has a grand design, and the effect his actions
have on future generations in Yoknapatawpha County. William Faulkner s writings
were often based off of this life and experiences and so is the same in this novel. In
Absalom, Absalom! Faulkner uses several narrators to tell the adventures of Sutpen.
He does this quite intentionally to convey more about the story than one narrator
could. The number of narrators is not the only important aspect, but as well as who
they are and what they are. William Faulkner uses several narrative voices in order
to encompass all aspects of Sutpen s life, as well as to show that Sutpen was not
alone in his ways. The way in which Faulkner uses narrators brings different

The clinics have shaped me into the person I am today. I experienced the impact of

types of Americans. I remember drawing at the kids corner at the Spina Bifida

To inform my audience about the seriousness of juvenile crime and the problems that
North Carolina faces when dealing with underage offenders.

impact this had on his representation of different political systems. In the novel
each character embodies an ideology, certain political ideals are portrayed in the
novel based on Dostoyevsky s personal beliefs. For example, Dostoyevsky s view
on progressivism is embodied through Lebezianikov, presenting the idea that
progressivism appears moral externally but is corrupt and misguided internally.
This is significant to the novel because it develops important aspects of different
characters. Consider Pyotr Petrovitch s, whose view of capitalism develops the
idea that his actions are based on self interest. Along with shifting his political
views, prison also had a significant psychological effect on Dostoyevsky. He
