“I THINK THEREFORE I AM”
RENE DESCARTES
Is there any doubt that you exist?
Descartes was a French philosopher who
struggled with understanding his own reality.
He doubted everything that was possible to
doubt and this therefore led to his conclusion
that if he can “doubt” that he exists, then he
really must be existing! We are thinking beings
and this proves our existence and the reality of
life.
In our study of Philosophy, the 5
th
grade GT
students were introduced to “the father of
modern philosophy.” They read about him and
then illustrated their understandings of his most
famous quote. The following slides show
whether or not they agree with Descartes.
