of this report is to explore the performance problems within cloud based networks
and how to improve it through quality of service (QoS). There are a wide variety of
issues and problems discussed such as latency, accessing resources and application

Enhancing a cloud based network could mean to make the network faster, safer,
efficient, cost effective and user friendly. The aim of this report is to discuss the
methods and techniques of trying to improve a cloud based network and what this
could mean. The outcome of the project being implemented will be to simulate a
cloud based campus network with optimum performance which then reflects its
results in charts and graphs making comparisons with one another. A variety of
aspects will be explored prior to simulating the network such as current
technologies, new protocols, servers, data centres, testing and availability.
Furthermore material on the software Opnet also known as Riverbed will be
provided because this will be used to simulate the final product. The purpose of the
project is to provide an insight into current matters which is then followed by
creating a cloud based network that is reliable, efficient, cost friendly and safe to
use for a university campus to utilise. Review of Literature Performance Problems
How They are Measured The literature within this report has been gathered using a
variety of sources such as websites, academic journals, eBooks and reports. When it
comes to cloud computing there are some major risks including security 87.5%,
availability 83.3% and performance 82.9% according to Kopp (2011). These are high
