Written & Presented by: Muhammad Akbar Rashid Qadri (BSVS, MS HCM) Incidence

Statistical Terms Rate: Rate refers to the occurrence of events over a specific interval of time in a specific population Example : Number of deaths per 10,ooo population in one year.

Statistical Terms Ratio: It shows relation in size between two random quantities Example: Number of male deaths : No of female deaths

Statistical Terms Proportion: Occurrence of event in specific population (No specific Time) Example: No of deaths in specific population

Incidence: Number of new cases occurring in a defined population during a specific period of time Incidence calculation: New cases in defined population Incidence: x 10 n Total population at risk over a specific period of time

Incidence Rate Occurrence of new events in a specific period of time in a defined population Formula: Same as incidence New cases in defined population Incidence Rate: x 100 Total population at risk over a specific period of time

Types of Incidence Rate 1) Primary Attack Rate: Occurrence of new cases over a specific period of time New cases in specific period of time Attack rate: x 100 Total population at risk in specific period of time

Secondary Attack Rate Occurrence of new cases after primary cases in a specific period of time New cases after primary cases in specific period of time Secondary Attack rate: x 100 Total population (Minus primary cases) at risk in specific period of time

Q ????? Why we use x 10, x 100, x 1000, x 10,000, x 1,00,00 In Formula ?????????

Importance of incidence It is helpful In pathogeneses to find disease distribution to control diseases in preventive and therapeutic measurements in health policies making
