“Piña” fiber “Piña” fiber is extracted from the leaves of a pineapple plant. Its scientific name is ananas comosus. The fibers are ivory-white in color and naturally glossy . The cloth is translucent, soft and fine with high luster. Piña’s name comes from the Spanish word “piña” which literally means pineapple.

BARONG TAGALOG Piña silk barongs are made of a blend of pineapple leaf fibers and silk. The fabric has super fine fibers, is coarse to the touch , translucent and is lined with organza on the inside for a smooth, comfortable feel. Piña silk is shiny, thick, has a loose weave and is very delicate.

ABACA FIBER Abaca, also known as Manila Hemp with the scientific name Musa textilis , is a natural leaf fiber species of banana grown as a commercial crop native in the country. It is considered as the “strongest natural fiber in the world” by the Philippine Department of Science and Technology and the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA).

RAFFIA FIBER Raffia fiber is obtained from the raffia palm tree , sometimes called raphia. It is made of long leaves of up to 60 feet or approximately 18 meters, making the palm tree with the largest branches . The raffia fiber is soft, pliable, strong, durable, easy to dye and biodegradable.
