INFECTION CONTROL WEEK CELEBRATION DAY 4: August 1, 2024 MORNING ACTIVITY Skills Fair (Observation on Hand Hygiene practice, Injection Safety, Transmission-Based Precaution & Clean Environment) Venue : Per Department Time : 8:00 AM - 3:00PM Prizes: 1 ST : digital wall clock + hand sanitizer 2 nd : mirror (half body size) + 1 hand sanitizer 1L 3 rd : 1 hand sanitizer 1L + 1 Jar Candies Objective: To enhance and evaluate the competency of healthcare professionals in key infection prevention practices, specifically focusing on hand hygiene, injection safety, transmission-based precautions, and maintaining a clean environment. Hand Hygiene Practice : Ensure adherence to the five moments of hand hygiene. Identify and correct common errors in hand hygiene techniques. Reinforce the importance of hand hygiene in preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Injection Safety : Assess and improve the techniques used for safe injection practices. Educate participants on the risks associated with unsafe injection practices. Promote the use of proper disposal methods for sharps and injection materials. Transmission-Based Precautions : Evaluate the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for various transmission-based precautions (contact, droplet, and airborne). Demonstrate correct procedures for donning and doffing PPE. Increase awareness of appropriate isolation protocols and room setups for patients requiring transmission-based precautions. Clean Environment : Review and practice effective cleaning and disinfection protocols for patient care areas. Highlight the role of environmental cleanliness in preventing the spread of infections. Encourage consistent and thorough cleaning practices among healthcare staff.
