Defination :- Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver. The liver is a vital organ that processes nutrients, filters the blood, and fights infections. When the liver is inflamed or damaged, its function can be affected. Types of Hepatitis Hepatitis E Hepatitis A Hepatitis B Hepatitis C Hepatitis D

● Hepatitis A  is a liver infection caused by the  Hepatitis A  virus. It is usually a short-term infection.   ● Hepatitis B  is an infection of the liver caused by the  hepatitis B  virus. The infection can be acute (short and severe) or chronic (long term).   ● Hepatitis C   is a viral infection that causes liver swelling, called inflammation.  Hepatitis C  can lead to serious liver damage. ● Hepatitis D  only occurs in people who are also infected with the hepatitis B virus. Hepatitis D is spread when blood or other body fluids. Hepatitis D can be an acute, short-term infection or become a long-term, chronic infection.

Symptoms 1)Fever 2)Fatigue 3)Malaise 4)Loss of appetite 5 )Nausea and vomiting 6)Abdominal pain 7)Dark urine 8)Light-colored stools 9)Joint pain 10)Jaundice(yellow skin and eyes)

► Non pharmacological manegment :- ● Rest if the patient feels exhausted or fatigued. ● Regular small frequent meals with high caloric cantent . ● Avoid oily spicy foods that are ill tolerated. ● Stop alcohol consumption. ● Avoid hepatoxic drugs such as paracetamol

►Pharmacological Management:- Anti HBV drug : 1)Adefovirdipivoxil – Oral dose 10 mg/day 2) Entecavir – 16 years and older 0.5 mg oral once daily. 3) Interferonalfa-2a – S.C Adult: million units 3 times/week for 4-6 months. 4) Lamivudine – Oral dose 100 mg once daily Anti HCV drugs :- 1)sofosbuvir – Oral 400 mg once daily. 2) Dasabuvir – Oral 200mg twice daily. 3)Simeprevir – 15 mg/day. 4)Ledipasvir – 60mg/day. 5) Velpatasvir - 100 mg + sofosbuvir 400mg.
