Inner Layers of the Earth T h e f o ur main i n ner l a y e r s of t he earth a r e : t h e c r u s t, ma n t l e, o u t er core, and inner core.

Crust: is the thinnest layer of the Earth, where we live. It can be very thin 5km, in the ocean floor, to around 70 km thick, where continents are.

Mantle: is the thickest layer. About 3000 km thick.

Outer Core: is so hot that the iron and nickel metals are liquid!

Inner Core: The inner core is the hottest part of the Earth, and, at over 5000 degrees Celsius, is about as hot as the surface of the sun.
