Objectives of this seminar : 1.To know the proper use of the instruments. 2.Using the correct instrument on each steps. 3.Obtaining the highest efficiency of the instruments. 4.Reduceing the chance of any mishap during tooth preparation by using wrong instruments. 5.Serving the patient a better prosthesis with longer durability by a correct tooth preparation using the instruments.

3. Tooth Preparation: Tooth preparation may be defined as the mechanical alteration of a defective ,injured or diseased tooth to best to receive a restoration that will establish its healthy state including esthetic correction where indicated,along normal form & occlusion.

5. 1.Hand piece(air turbine): Uses:it is used to rotate the diamonds and burs in tooth preparation.

6. 2. flat end tapered diamond: In case of PFM(anterior): Depth orientation grooves. Incisal reduction. Labial reduction ( incisal half). Labial reduction (gingival half) In case of PFM(posterior): Depth orientation grooves. Labial reduction ( incisal half). Labial reduction (gingival half) U ses

11. 5.TORPEDO bur : USES IN CASE OF CAST METAL CROWN: Chamfer finishing. Axial finishing. IN CASE OF PFM (ANTERIOR): Axial finishing. IN CASE OF PFM (POSTERIOR): Lingual and axial reduction & finishing.

14. 8.Small wheel diamond: Uses of small wheel diamond: - Lingual reduction in PFM and full porcelain crown.

15. 9. radial fissure bur : uses: For PFM (posterior): Axial & shoulder finishing. Facial axial and radial shoulder finishing . For full porcelain: Axial wall & radial shoulder finishing.

17. 11. chisels Hand chisels can be used to highlight the facial and lingual walls of proximal boxes Previously used chisels Newer chisels

18. 12.Laboratory knife with no 25 blade: Uses: -It is used to cut along the incisal , labial and lingual half of the silicon putty imprint of the tooth.
