Integer Rules
Adding Integers
SAME SIGN : Just Add Keep the sign
For example: 7 + 8=15 and -7 + -8 = -15

DIFFERENT SIGNS: Subtract take the sign of the
higher number (the number with the highest absolute
value)
For example: 8 + (-14) = -6 and -6 + 14 = 8

Subtracting Integers
There is only one rule: Add the opposite
For example: 10 – (12)
(Rewrite the problem) 10 + (-12)
(Use addition rule) = -2
Multiplying and Dividing Integers
Same Signs: The answer is Positive
Different Signs: The answer is Negative
For Example: 6 x 7 = 42; 42 ÷ 6 = 7

-6 x -7 = 42; -42 ÷ -6 = 7
-7 x 6 = -42; 42 ÷ -6 = -7
