Techno-Economic Feasibility Assessment of Stick-Net Cage Installation for Milkfish Fishpond in Tanjung Mas Waters, Indonesia Nana Kariada Tri Martuti ; Inaya Sari Melati ; Wahid Akhsin Budi Nur Sidiq ; Dhita Prasisca Mutiatari Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia

INTRODUCTION a high-rate production of milkfish ( Chanos chanos ) with a total of 328.65 tons in 2020 the north side of Semarang is bordered by the Java Sea with a coastline length of 13.6 km strong waves and brackish water. the application of stick net cage in fish farming the Indonesia fish consumption shows an increasing trend of 7.37% per year

CONCLUSION The environmental factors are the first consideration for implementing stick-net cages in milkfish cultivation. This study found that after the installation of stick-net cages, the depth, brightness, and pH in Tanjung Mas waters are still suitable for milkfish cultivation. It means, this new method does not affect the milkfish habitat to grow and breed. However, in terms of cultivation processes , the number of installed stick-net cages are found exceed the maximum capacity from the ideal state. Based on the theory and experience that has been found, it will inhibit the growth of milkfish so that it cannot reach its maximum weight in the ideal time and prolong harvest time. This study suggests to re-installed some stick-net cages to optimize the milkfish production. Meanwhile, in terms of finance , some issues have been found to be addressed to minimize costs and optimize profit. Separation of business entity and insurance understanding should be what fish farmers and local government need to pay attention to. The limitation of this study is technically it does not examine pollutant loads such as P, N and aquaculture waste due to resource and time limitation. Therefore, it is recommended for the next research agenda to extend the laboratory test to provide more comprehensive results of environmental factors of implementing stick-net cages in milkfish cultivation.
